It has to be said that this is a spur-of-the-moment performance, with two shows in Beijing and Aranya.
The Molds will perform the original classics with their initial lineup. I even went through several twists and turns to contact Xiao Li, and after getting my wish, he asked in return: "Why didn't you just ask me directly?" I was speechless (in fact, it had been a long-planned move).
Beyond the spur-of-the-moment decision, there was an added joy of instant agreement. Where exactly Xiaoren and Qiao Xi were at that time, we have no idea. For now, it seems they should live up to what they readily promised me: to put on a show together again?
Indulging in self-abandonment and exploring the spiritual world are no longer in line with the trends of the times. Nostalgia can make people depressed, and the future can cause anxiety. For now, all we can do is this performance. Who knows what will happen in the future? Heaven only knows.
Don't treat this gathering as a farewell. See you at the venue. ——— Liu Ge
In 2006, lead singer Liu Ge formed The Molds out of his love for roots rock and The Cramps.
From 2007 to 2009, the early lineup of The Molds was active in Beijing's music scene, mainly centered around D22.
After a period of accumulation, The Molds appeared with a new lineup (Lead Vocals & Guitar: Liu Ge / Guitar: Zhao Zijun / Bass: Liu Fang / Drums: Li Zichao). They have released 1 full-length album, 3 EPs, and 2 live albums, with a total online playback volume exceeding 2 million. They have been recommended by platforms such as Apple Music, NetEase Cloud Music, Douban Music, Xiami Music, and QQ Music, and covered by Rolling Stone China, Timeout Beijing, and Billboard.
Among their works, the singles Dancing With The Dead Lover and Blue Moon gained widespread recognition after being featured as ending themes in the phenomenal dramas The Bad Kids and The Long Season respectively. Following their connection with these TV series, they were invited to be the opening guests at the "Night of Xining" event of the 2021 FIRST International Film Festival.
By fate, The Molds will reunite with their original lineup, accompanied by new guest musicians. All kinds of wonders are ready to unfold at the live show.
