Beijing Grand Canal Cultural Scenic Area

The Beijing Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Area is a 5A-level tourist attraction, including the Randeng Tower, surrounding ancient buildings, Canal Park, and the Canal Dock, divided into three zones: North, Central, and South. It integrates historical culture, sports and leisure, and ecological landscapes, serving as a "new business card" for the city"s sub-center.

Randeng Tower and Surrounding Ancient Buildings

The Randeng Tower in Tongzhou, along with the Wenmiao Temple, Ziqing Palace, and Yousheng Temple, collectively known as the "Randeng Tower and Surrounding Ancient Buildings," is a famous cultural landmark along the Beijing Grand Canal.

When you arrive at Wenzong East Road, the stone carvings such as Jiaoguan Stone, Dingchuan Stone, and Zhenshui Beast lie quietly in the stele corridor, silently telling the story of the Grand Canal. Not far from the scenic area by the canal, the tall buildings of the business district stand in rows, blending ancient charm with a modern feel, giving people a sense of "crossing time and space."

Grand Canal Cruise

Taking a cruise on the Grand Canal, with peach blossoms lining the banks like snow, the spring scenery on both sides of the canal becomes a moving art gallery, where you can also admire the silhouette of the Beijing Art Center.

Three major cultural facilities

The Beijing Art Center, Beijing Library, and Beijing Grand Canal Museum are the three major cultural facilities of Beijing"s sub-center. By the end of 2023, the three magnificent buildings of the "Cultural Granary," "Forest Library," and "Canal Boat" will officially open to the public, leading us on an artistic journey to appreciate the light of civilization and enjoy cultural delicacies.

Beijing Art Center

The Beijing Art Center is known as the "Cultural Granary" on the banks of the Grand Canal, with design elements inspired by the ancient granaries on the waterfront of the canal terminal. The theater includes a 1800-seat opera hall, a 1600-seat concert hall, a 1000-seat theater, a 500-seat multi-functional hall, and an 850-seat outdoor theater.

Beijing Library

Beijing Library was selected as one of the top 100 travel destinations in the world by TIME magazine in 2025, making it Beijing"s first cultural landmark to receive this honor.

Technology empowers Beijing Library to create new reading service scenarios. Readers can explore knowledge in the online parallel world constructed in the Metaverse Experience Hall.

AI smart librarians provide readers with query and consultation services, AI restoration, and present ancient books in touchable, dynamic forms in naked-eye 3D, creating a cultural exploration journey that is educational, sensory, interactive, and enjoyable for readers.

Beijing Grand Canal Museum

The Beijing Grand Canal Museum takes "Boat of the Canal" as its design concept, integrating historical elements into modern architecture. Located by the thousand-year-old canal, it raises the sail of national culture. The uniquely designed museum gives people a sense of crossing through time, as if the ancient "Boat of the Canal" is slowly approaching. The first-floor cultural and creative center displays a variety of products such as fridge magnets, badges, notebooks, thermos cups, sachets, canvas bags, etc., attracting many visitors who are busy collecting stamps and taking photos, making it very popular. The Canal Bookstore is exquisitely designed, and the shared open reading space allows people to immerse themselves in it. The presence of the cultural and creative center and the Canal Bookstore brings canal culture closer to the audience.

In the Beijing Sub-Center, whether you want to experience the weight and grandeur of history or the prosperity and convenience of modern urban life, this place can meet your needs. The spring weather is perfect, so let's set off right away!
