As the cold winter gradually fades away and the spring approaches, I have good news to share with everyone. The "iron tree" in the bonsai garden of the National Botanical Garden has bloomed again. There is a saying that goes, "It is rare for the 'iron tree' to bloom once in a thousand years." Gather your family this weekend and witness this miraculous moment together. In Beijing, there are many botanical gardens with greenhouses where you can experience the warmth and vitality of spring in advance. Come and embark on a warm and healing journey of spring.
01 National Botanical Garden
The National Botanical Garden is located in the western mountains of Beijing, divided into two areas, north and south. Both areas have exhibition greenhouses. The exhibition greenhouse in the north area mainly includes tropical rainforest area, desert plant area, four-season garden, and specialized plant exhibition rooms, showcasing 3,100 species of plants and over 60,000 plants. It also houses three flagship species of the world's largest greenhouses - Titan Arum, Orchid Cactus, and Coconut Palm.
The exhibition greenhouse in the south area includes nine exhibition rooms such as the carnivorous plant room and aquatic plant room, showcasing over 2,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants. The exhibition greenhouses not only display "national gift" plants such as the Bodhi tree but also rare plants collected from abroad. The aquatic plant room allows visitors to enjoy water lilies and giant-leaved lotus plants throughout the year. The exhibition greenhouses in the two areas of the National Botanical Garden each have their own unique features.
If you have ample time, you can leisurely stroll through the greenhouses in the north area to admire the plants. If you want to quickly tour the garden and appreciate the "national gift" plants, the exhibition greenhouse in the south area is a good choice. The 2025 Chinese New Year Orchid Exhibition has just ended, and the "iron tree" in the bonsai garden of the National Botanical Garden has bloomed again. There is a saying that goes, "It is rare for the 'iron tree' to bloom once in a thousand years." Unlike the female plant that bloomed last summer, this time the male plant is also showing off its charm. Come and witness this miraculous moment together.
