There are still many exciting Chinese New Year activities in Beijing, including temple fairs, intangible cultural heritage performances, museum exhibitions, and cultural shows, which will continue until the 15th day of the lunar new year.
01. Garden Party
Beijing Shijingshan Amusement Park Chinese New Year Lantern Festival Garden Party (石景山游乐园新春灯火)
The stunning ice and fire light dance show combines various forms of performances such as intangible cultural heritage iron flower, Chinese-style lion dance, and global dance, presenting a gorgeous visual feast.
With glowing props and a parade of actors from around the world, a night light parade performance is woven together to make you feel like you're in a dream world!
The Chinese New Year theme lantern exhibition brings together more than a dozen large traditional lanterns throughout the park, including the Golden Snake Welcoming Spring, the World Celebrating Together, and the Welcoming Wealth and Fortune.Qinglong Hu Park Spring Festival Garden Party (青龙湖公园新春游园会)
2025 lanterns decorate Beijing's Qinglong Hu Park, and the "Qinglong Shanghe Garden Song Dynasty-themed New Year Garden Party" will be held from the first day of the lunar new year to the 15th day. Walking into the park is like stepping into a dreamlike Song Dynasty world, with a 120-meter-long "Water Margin Characters Display" lantern and a 180-meter-long "Ancient Celebrity Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" lantern shining together.
During the Garden Party, the Song Dynasty atmosphere is strong, from the entrance plaza's corridor stage to every detail in the park, all filled with the Song Dynasty's flavor.
In addition, the food area is also a highlight not to be missed, with more than 80 kinds of food gathered together, from Sichuan and Chongqing flavors to traditional snacks from all over the country, and even popular food.
The Grand Canal Spring Festival Garden Party (大运河新春游园会)
The Spring Festival Garden Party at the Grand Canal is divided into the main venue at Cao Yun Wharf and two other venues at Randeng Tower and Liuyin Square. Until the 15th day of the lunar new year, the three venues will continue to provide various Lunar New Year experiences, including specialty snacks, festive performances, and intangible cultural heritage handicrafts.
The New Year Garden Party at Cao Yun Wharf focuses on "traditional folk customs," with dragon and lion dances, Peking Opera performances, shadow puppet shows, and acrobatic performances taking turns to perform. There are also folk handicraft exhibitions and interactive experiences, such as traditional paper-cutting, clay figurines, sugar blowing, and inside-painted snuff bottles, as well as a specialty food tasting area.
The New Year Garden Party at Randeng Tower focuses on "cultural creativity + food," with 30 cultural and creative booths and 38 food booths.
In addition to cultural and food booths, the New Year Garden Party at Liuyin Square also has interactive photo opportunities, DIY crafts, and other special activities, with over 110 booths.
02. Intangible Cultural Heritage Performance
Qianjuntai Zhuanghu Flag Festival (千军台庄户幡会)
From February 12th to 13th, the ancient flag festival that has been going on for over 500 years in Mentougou District will be held in the Qianjuntai community on Datang Jie (St).
Qianjuntai Zhuanghuan Festival is a national intangible cultural heritage, held for two days on the 15th and 16th of the first lunar month every year, with a history of hundreds of years of inheritance.
Qianjuntai Zhuanghuan Festival includes drumming, music, yangko dance and other contents, which is a unique folk painting in the western Beijing area. The festival has a large scale and rich content, which is unique in North China.
Yanqing Yongning Ancient City Intangible Cultural Heritage Flower Festival (延庆永宁古城非遗花会)
During the Spring Festival in 2025, a series of flower festival performances will be held in Yongning Town.
On the 15th day of the first lunar month, February 12th, there will be performances of dry boat, stilts, and yangko dance in the courtyard of Yanqing Haowu Cultural and Creative Park (formerly the foundry). Come to the ancient city to watch intangible cultural heritage and taste delicious food.
