How to Celebrate the First "Intangible Cultural Heritage" Spring Festival? During the Spring Festival, Beijing transforms into a dazzling showcase of intangible cultural heritage, featuring traditional crafts, performances, delicacies, cultural creations, and markets. A variety of fresh "experiences" are ready to impress, offering residents and visitors an authentic festive feast and an atmosphere-rich "Beijing-style New Year"!

01 The 12th Fenghuangling Spring Festival Fair 

Intangible Cultural Heritage Performances  

Enjoy captivating intangible cultural heritage performances throughout the day, including thrilling acrobatic shows. Audiences can even interact closely with the performers. 

On the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, which marks the beginning of spring, heritage practitioners will host a vibrant "Spring Ox Beating" ceremony to welcome the season.

Explore on-site exhibitions of heritage projects and savor traditional treats like Xue's Pastries, a renowned intangible cultural heritage delicacy.

02 Dongyue Temple (Beijing Folklore Museum) 

This year's Dongyue Temple Fair features four major sections: a themed cultural market, lion dance performances, an exhibition of exquisite cultural relics, and a traditional blessing ceremony. The event offers a rich experience with markets, performances, exhibitions, and blessing activities. The lion dance section highlights intangible cultural heritage performances, divided into two parts, showcasing the captivating charm of lion dance culture through diverse expressions.

03 Yaji Mountain Spring Festival Blessing Temple Fair  

From the first to the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, the Yaji Mountain Spring Festival Blessing Temple Fair in Pinggu will host a variety of blessing activities. Performances will be held every morning and afternoon, featuring a rotation of traditional intangible cultural heritage programs. 

In addition to local specialties showcasing authentic Pinggu flavors, the fair will include a special section for intangible cultural heritage delicacies. Renowned heritage brands from across the country will gather to offer their signature treats, creating a "Gathering Blessings" theme for visitors to experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage.

04 The 12th Cloisonne Royal Art Temple Fair  

Cloisonne represents the pinnacle of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and is a national intangible cultural heritage. During the Spring Festival, the Beijing Enamel Factory will host "The 12th Cloisonne Royal Art Temple Fair," featuring Beijing's "Four Famous Crafts" gathered together for the first time.  Visitors can shop for exquisitely crafted Cloisonne ornaments and participate in hands-on experiences with the "dot blue" technique, exploring the profound artistry behind this traditional craft. 

Date: January 30 (Second day of the Lunar New Year) to February 12 (Fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year)

05 The Jiuqu Yellow River Lantern Array 

The The Jiuqu Yellow River Lantern Array is a traditional folk lantern festival held during the Lantern Festival in Dongtiangezhuang Village, Taishitun Town, Miyun District. Also known as the "Dengchaozi," it was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage representative project by the State Council in June 2008. 

This unique tradition integrates lantern arrays, flower fairs, and operas into a cohesive and dazzling experience. The accompanying flower fair, De Yuan Shan Hui, is famous in the region, while the amateur Hebei Bangzi opera troupe, established during the Guangxu period, has been performing for over a century.

06 Qianjuntai and Zhuanghu Banner Fair 

The Qianjuntai and Zhuanghu Banner Fair, a national intangible cultural heritage event, is a cultural tradition originating from ancient rural temple fairs. It showcases the unique folk customs of western Beijing. 

This year, the annual banner fair in Mentougou District will take place on the fifteenth and sixteenth days of the Lunar New Year, highlighting the charm of the 500-year-old "Western Beijing Ancient Banner Fair." 

Date: February 12 and 13 (Lunar New Year's 15th and 16th) 

Location: Qianjuntai Village and Zhuanghu Village, Mentougou

07 Liulimiao Town's 16th "Lianqiaofan" Folk Culture Festival 

From the sixteenth to the nineteenth day of the Lunar New Year, Liulimiao Town will host its 16th "Lianqiaofan" Folk Culture Festival. Visitors can enjoy vibrant traditional Spring Festival activities at the event.

08 Yongning Ancient Town 

"Intangible Cultural Heritage Welcomes the New Year, Celebrate Spring Festival in the Ancient Town". The 2025 Yongning Town Spring Festival Flower Fair Performance has officially begun! Yongning Town invites you to explore the ancient town, enjoy delicious food, and experience vibrant intangible cultural heritage performances during the festive season. 

Date: January 29 (Lunar New Year's Day) to February 2 (Lunar New Year's Fifth Day), and February 12 (Lunar New Year's 15th)

09 Beihai Park 

Spring Festival Lion Dance  

A lively cultural feast filled with the festive spirit awaits visitors. Feel the joy and warmth of the holiday through traditional lion dance performances. 

Date: January 29–February 2 (Two performances daily at 10:00 and 10:40) 

Locations: South Gate Square (January 29 and 31), Fangshan Square (January 30 and February 1), and Chanfu Temple (February 2) 

"Lord Rabbit" Craft Demonstration 

Visitors can watch skilled artisans demonstrate the intricate process of making "Lord Rabbit" figurines, interact with intangible cultural heritage practitioners, and even try their hand at creating these traditional works, gaining a deeper appreciation for Beijing's folk culture.

Lacquer Fan and Rubbing Art Activities 

Under the guidance of heritage artisans, participants can learn to create lacquer fans and explore the art of rubbing prints. With instruction from traditional painting experts, visitors can also craft painted fan surfaces, experiencing the essence and beauty of Chinese art.

10 Shougang Park 

Experience the "Chinese New Year in Shougang Park" through immersive intangible cultural heritage activities. During the Spring Festival, the "Different Intangible Heritage Year" series of events will feature unique intangible heritage performances and interactive experiences from all over the country, allowing you to get up close and personal with intangible heritage—all for free!

12 The 11th Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Grand View Garden

This year's 11th Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Grand View Garden event fully showcases the charm of intangible cultural heritage during the Spring Festival. From January 29 to February 3, a series of interactive intangible cultural heritage experiences will be held at six star-rated hotels and ten distinctive rural tourist villages in Yanqing, where visitors can participate in special activities and experience the cultural charm of a traditional Chinese New Year.

13 "Intangible Heritage New Year in Daxing"

Come to Daxing to experience the intangible cultural heritage of the New Year. Over 60 intangible cultural heritage events will take place, featuring a variety of heritage projects. The "Fragrant City Books, Intangible Cultural Heritage Blooming" market at the Beijing Library has been meeting readers since January 15. This market integrates Spring Festival elements into intangible cultural heritage projects, with each piece of heritage showcasing deep historical roots and unique cultural charm. More than ten intangible cultural heritage inheritors will interact with visitors face to face, offering an immersive experience to explore the unique allure of intangible cultural heritage.

16 Moon River New Year Folk Culture Market 

Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience 

Moon River Town is holding its first New Year folk culture market this year, themed around intangible cultural heritage. Many heritage practitioners will be on-site, showcasing their exquisite skills. Visitors can witness traditional craftsmanship firsthand, interact with heritage inheritors, and gain a deeper understanding of the essence of intangible cultural heritage. 

Folk Culture Market 

The town has specially invited intangible cultural heritage folk performance teams from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Spectacular performances will take place, offering a chance to appreciate the charm of traditional arts. Whether it's unique folk customs or the performers' acrobatic skills, visitors will be treated to a visual feast.

17 Rongbaozhai Intangible Cultural Heritage Woodblock Printing Special Exhibition 

As the Year of the Snake approaches, the Beijing Xuannan Culture Museum of Beijing collaborates with Rongbaozhai to host this event. During the exhibition, visitors are invited to participate in woodblock printing activities, creating their own prints and taking home a unique piece of Spring Festival memorabilia.
