Introduction

In order to support the construction of the Beijing International Communication Center and optimize travel services for foreigners in Beijing, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources, the Municipal Administration and Data Bureau, the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission jointly organized the preparation of Beijing English Map. The map is now available for trial operation on the Beijing Geographic Information Public Service Platform (referred to as "Tianditu Beijing") for one month, during which it will be modified and improved based on feedback from all parties before being officially launched.

The Beijing English Map includes electronic and paper maps.

The electronic map covers categories such as administrative divisions, natural features, transportation, management agencies, international organizations, education and culture, medical and health care, sports and leisure, residential accommodation, and commercial facilities, with more than 30,000 annotations. At the same time, in order to facilitate the use of the map by foreigners, six thematic maps have been added, including designated foreign exchange bank branches, SIM card application, transportation card application, document application, self-driving services, and scenic area services, with more than 4,000 thematic annotations, providing convenient query and positioning services for foreigners traveling, working, and living in Beijing. The English map data will be shared with government portal websites, map service platforms, and third-party urban life service platforms to provide more service scenarios.

The paper map includes three scales: Beijing, the urban area, and the core functional area of the capital, covering areas where foreigners frequently visit, such as airports, train stations, and tourist attractions. It highlights information such as the Beijing axis and world cultural heritage sites and Beijing's historical and cultural information. The electronic version of the paper map is available for free download and use by foreigners and the general public on the Tianditu Beijing website.

In order to provide more convenient and efficient English map services for Beijing, feedback will be collected during the trial operation period to continuously improve and enrich the map content.
