Yudu Mountain is located deep in the mountains, with few visitors and beautiful scenery, and a peaceful environment. Yudu Mountain is a little-known virgin land in the Beijing area; it preserves the most primitive green memories of nature; it is the best choice for modern people to return to nature. Yudu Mountain is a pearl hidden in the deep mountains, with the same yearning as us modern people, which is the highest realm of "unity of heaven and man". The beauty of Yudu Mountain lies in the abundance of mountains, rocks, forests, springs, waterfalls, flowers, and grass, and the feeling of pure, peaceful, quiet, and wildness.
Yudu Mountain is located along the southern bank of Houhe River and the valley of Gucheng River. It stretches from the highest peak of Haituo with an altitude of 2241 meters in Beijing to Longqing Gorge, covering an area of more than 100 square kilometers, with elevations ranging from 580 to 1589 meters. The core and essence of the area developed is about 58 square kilometers. This area is part of the Jundu Mountains, a branch of the Yanshan Mountains, located at the western end of the Yanshan subsidence zone. The landform is mainly composed of gullies, middle mountains, and valley erosion terraces. There are two rivers in the area, one passing through Yudu Mountain to Sancha He (River), and the other passing through Wulipo to Sancha He (River). Both rivers originate from the Haituo Mountain area and converge into Longqing Gorge at Sancha He (River). Due to the development of granite fissures in the Haituo Mountain area and dense vegetation upstream, the fissure water is abundant, so the river has a large water volume, and even in the dry season, there is a supply of spring water, which flows all year round.
Due to good hydrological conditions and less human activity, the plant growth in this area is lush and diverse. According to surveys by Capital Normal University and Beijing Forestry University, the main trees in the mixed forest in the gully are pine, birch, poplar, Liaodong oak, elm, and Beijing lilac. The shrubs are mainly composed of Chinese elm, two-color buckthorn, flat hazel, tiger hazel, embroidered chrysanthemum, mouseberry, mountain peach, thorny shrub, and mountain apricot. The herbaceous plants are mainly composed of various grass communities, combined with some thorny shrubs and shrubs. The vegetation coverage here is high (up to 100% around Yudu Mountain), with many species and good growth, making it a natural northern botanical garden.
The wildlife resources are also very rich. According to the compilation by the Biology Department of Capital Normal University, there are 184 species of vertebrates, including more than 20 species of mammals, 11 orders, 29 families, and 125 species of birds. Sixteen species of wild animals are listed as national key protected animals, 14 species are listed as key protected animals in Beijing, and 16 species are listed as generally protected wild animals in Beijing.
The climate here is a typical mountain climate, with obvious vertical distribution. Due to the high altitude, the temperature here is lower than that near the county town, with a larger daily temperature difference and more precipitation than that near the county town.
