With New Year's Day approaching and Spring Festival around the corner, several highly anticipated lantern festivals in Beijing are counting down to their grand opening. Let's look forward to them together!

Megalights Wonderland

On December 28, the 2025 Megalights Wonderland will kick off at Wenyuhe Park in the Chaoyang Demonstration Area. Spanning an impressive 600 acres, the event features four meticulously curated chapters and eight themed zones. Over 1,000 sets of dazzling Zigong lanterns, known as the "Best Lanterns in the World," will be showcased, presenting a mesmerizing display of traditional Chinese culture. Immerse yourself in a dreamlike world of radiant lights and experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage.

In terms of lantern design, this year's festival draws inspiration from traditional Chinese culture, including astronomy, ancient architecture, calligraphy and painting, mythology, murals, porcelain, silk, and Chinese tea. Combining the intangible cultural heritage of Zigong lantern craftsmanship, known as the "Best Lanterns in the World," with modern technology and stunning light shows, it creates a cross-era visual extravaganza!

In addition to traditional cultural elements, technology and new energy sources also serve as inspirations for this year's lantern designs. "Gazing at the Heavens" draws its creative inspiration from a wondrous imagination of cosmic life forms. "Towards the Sun", inspired by new energy vehicles, serves as the grand finale of the lantern festival, symbolizing humanity's bold transition from the era of petroleum-powered cars to the era of new energy vehicles.

This year's Megalights Wonderland spans an impressive 600 acres. The area around the park is equipped with ample parking facilities, offering a total of 8,160 parking spaces, including 2,660 fixed spots and 5,500 expanded spots, ensuring convenient access for visitors. The park features two grand entrances: "Dragon and Serpent Celebrate the New Year" (Gate 1) and "Palace of a Thousand Lanterns" (Gate 9). Both entrances are majestic in design and equipped with multiple diversion pathways, significantly enhancing the experience of exploring the lantern displays. Visitors can effortlessly immerse themselves in the boundless charm of this dazzling light and shadow extravaganza.

The 3rd Expo Park Lantern Art Festival

On January 15, 2025, the 3rd Expo Park Lantern Art Festival at Beijing Shi Yuan International Tourism Resort, themed "The Most Beautiful is Hometown," will kick off. Covering an area of 50,000 square meters, the Lantern Art Festival will feature over a thousand sets of technological lanterns, traditional lanterns, and a series of Spring Festival performances for citizens and visitors. The 3rd Expo Ice and Snow Carnival will also begin simultaneously, offering attendees the chance to experience the ice and snow of Yanqing at the foot of the Great Wall and by the Guishui River.

At this year's Lantern Art Festival, the China Pavilion will launch the fifth visual 3D light and shadow show, offering a panoramic immersive light performance and creating a landmark night-time attraction in Beijing. Inside the pavilion, a traditional Beijing copper pot long-table feast will be set up, where visitors from all over the country can gather, sit together, and toast in celebration. The Chinese Exhibition Garden, which features architectural styles from across the country, will present a hometown-themed lantern festival. Lanterns will showcase distinctive plants, animals, and cultural elements from various regions, highlighting the beauty of civilization across China.

Beijing International Flower Port 2025 Lantern Festival and Temple Fair

This year's lantern festival, themed "Snake Dance, Dragon Rising - 2025 Beijing International Flower Port New Year Lantern Art Festival," combines food, travel, shopping, and entertainment. It features food, lantern, intangible cultural heritage, folk performance, and game exhibition areas. The diverse activities will offer every visitor a feast for the eyes and senses. The event will showcase more than forty sets of uniquely designed lanterns, highlighting the perfect fusion of traditional Chinese culture and modern technology. With powerful lantern displays, visitors will be immersed in the experience, getting up close to the distinctive charm of lantern art.

The First Pinggu Jingdong Great Limestone Cave 2025 New Year Lantern Night Tour

As Beijing Pinggu's largest-scale lantern festival, the First Pinggu Jingdong Great Limestone Cave 2025 New Year Lantern Night Tour covers an expansive area of 400 acres, with a rich variety of lantern displays and diverse themes. This vibrant New Year lantern night tour, featuring colorful Guochao-style lanterns, will light up Pinggu and the capital, offering a magnificent traditional cultural art feast and extending New Year blessings to citizens and visitors for the Year of the Snake.

The First Pinggu Jingdong Great Limestone Cave 2025 New Year Lantern Night Tour takes Chinese traditional cultural elements as its foundation, featuring six major themed sections with over a thousand lantern displays. The dazzling lights will showcase the essence of China's outstanding traditional culture. Unlock six enchanting experiences and refresh your New Year with new adventures! Let's embark on a magical visual feast of lights together!

Five major entertainment, viewing, and leisure areas will be featured, with scheduled performances every day, national-level intangible cultural heritage lantern art, immersive Chinese-style performances, and a Guochao cultural and creative food market. Shijingshan Amusement Park "2025 Lantern Festival"

Shijingshan Amusement Park plans to hold the "Spring Festival Temple Fair" from January 29 to February 4, 2025 (from the first to the seventh day of the Lunar New Year). The park will also continue evening operations from January 29 to February 16, 2025 (from the first to the nineteenth day of the Lunar New Year), hosting the New Year "Lantern Festival".

This event has been completely upgraded, offering visitors a New Year celebration that blends tradition with innovation. During the day, the temple fair will showcase landscapes, decorations, and festive content from around the world. Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of entertainment activities, savor global flavors, and explore the five exotic-themed continents, experiencing the cultural charm of different regions.

In the evening, the New Year Lantern Festival will immerse visitors in giant lantern displays themed around the Year of the Snake. Enjoy dazzling performances, including the breathtaking Golden Snake Welcoming Spring Ice and Fire Dance Show, the Nighttime Grand Parade, and the romantic, dreamlike Castle Fireworks and Light Show, offering a dual feast for the eyes and soul.
