Waterfront locations: Luoma Hu Park, Luohong Photography Art Museum, COFCO Xiangyun Town
Luoma Hu has no connection to Rome, but it is related to the villages of Luogezhuang and Magezhuang in Shunyi District. It is located between Luogezhuang and Magezhuang in the Houshayu Town of Shunyi District, Beijing. The lake is divided into two parts: the East Lake, which is smaller, and the West Lake, which is slightly larger. The lake is an irregular "heart" shaped artificial lake, with water sourced from the Wenyu River. Overflow water flows into the Longdao River and enters the West Lake of Roma, eventually draining back into the Wenyu River.
The lake area is part of the Shunyi New Town Longdao River water system management project. To the south of Luoma Hu is a commercial street, home to various dining, entertainment, and leisure establishments. This area is a popular destination for local residents, tourists from the city, and is also a preferred gathering spot for urban professionals on weekends.
Luoma Hu is a lake located next to a highway, and indeed, all roads lead to Luoma Hu. The Luoma Hu Park does not have a formal entrance, but the wooden boardwalk along the lake's edge offers a pleasant spot for a leisurely stroll, a jog, or simply relaxing in the cool breeze. The lush greenery surrounding the area presents a vibrant, lively scene. The landscape of the lake is distinct through the seasons, with the deep blue waters reflecting the trees on the shore. Sunlight sparkles on the surface of the water, while seagulls play, lotus flowers bloom, and reeds sway in the wind. From the viewing platform, you can feel the gentle breeze on your face, carrying the fragrance of flowers and plants. At night, the neon lights shimmer, and friends gather to enjoy each other's company, glasses clinking in celebration, filling the air with a charming, hopeful atmosphere.
If you're driving, the Luohong Photography Art Museum is not far from Luoma Hu. The museum consists of three main sections: the Luohong Photography Gallery, the Oriental Garden Landscape, and the Black Swan Cake Art Museum. The architecture of the museum was designed by an Australian designer, the Black Swan Cake Art Museum was designed by a Japanese master, and the garden landscape was designed by a descendant of a famous Korean garden family. Over 30 Shandong traditional stone craftsmen were invited to sculpt the stone artworks. This artistic space was built with craftsmanship to soothe the soul, offering children a place to be immersed in art.
The Luohong Photography Art Museum is also a grand garden, nestled between the mountains and lake, surrounded by water. The mountain is dotted with unique pines and stones, while the lake is home to thousands of koi fish. Black swans glide across the mist-covered lake, creating a scene straight out of a fairy tale or a utopia. The dessert shop on the first floor is a favorite spot for city professionals to enjoy afternoon tea. With a cup of coffee or a drink, and a slice of Black Swan Cake, you can relax under the afternoon sun while watching the black swans in the small pond. It's a perfect, peaceful retreat.
The Olympic Water Park is one of the most distinctive newly built venues of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where events such as rowing, canoeing, and marathon swimming were held. Today, the park has quieted down from its past hustle and bustle, offering Beijing residents a perfect spot to enjoy the water and cool off. The park is divided into four sections from south to north: Lighthouse Square, the Sailing Base, Wanpingkou Ecological Plaza, and the Water Sports Base. Visitors can not only enjoy the 30-meter-long Olympic Moments Rotating Gallery but also experience water games like city rafting and banana boating. During the winter, various snow activities such as skiing and curling are held, making it a great place for entertainment all year round.
