Summer in Beijing: Embrace Rivers, Lakes and Nature|Qinglong Hu (Lake)

Waterfront locations: Qinglong Hu Water Amusement Park, Qinglong Hu Park, International Wine City, Nanguan Village

Qinglong Hu, located in the northeastern part of Fangshan District within Chonggezhuang Township, was formerly known as Chongqing Reservoir. It is the closest expansive water body of high quality to downtown Beijing. The Qinglong Hu scenic area is nestled against hilly terrain and faces the plains, featuring a winding shoreline and numerous inlets. It boasts both open water areas and relatively secluded, tranquil spots. In spring and summer, the Hu is lively with flocks of wild ducks and geese, while the "Songling Greenway" and "Linhai Flower Valley" complement each other beautifully. In autumn and winter, the fallen leaves create a picturesque scene with winding paths, deep tranquility, and stunning views throughout the year.

At the Qinglong Hu Water Park, you can enjoy exciting challenges and water battles with a variety of fun and thrilling water activities waiting for you to explore. Offerings include parasailing, high-speed jet skiing, self-driving boats, pedal boats, kayaks, dragon boats, and a beach area, making it known as "Beijing's Little Seaside." In addition to the high-energy water activities, you can also savor "slow time" by renting a bicycle for a delightful family ride along paths lined with trees and the Hu—it's hard not to feel relaxed here.

Qinglong Hu Park is situated along the picturesque shores of Qinglong Hu, characterized by lush mountains, clear waters, and verdant grasslands. The fresh air and beautiful scenery create a tranquil environment, where the calm and expansive Hu reflects the sky. At Qinglong Hu Park, visitors can enjoy hiking and flower viewing, escape the summer heat, and participate in sightseeing and fruit picking.

In the early morning, the lake is bathed in a rosy glow; in the evening, the sunset casts a golden hue over the water. Tourists can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Qinglong Hu while enjoying a peaceful state of mind. The park features a lotus pond of over 3,000 square meters in the northern area. During the summer, when the lotus flowers bloom, the vibrant reds and greens create a stunning visual experience. Visitors can take a break in the wooden pavilions, surrounded by green grass, clear waters, and dragonflies fluttering about.

Walking through the lotus pond, you'll reach the park's fruit orchard, which boasts more than 30 varieties of fruit trees, including cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, hawthorns, and persimmons. When the fruits are ripe, the air is filled with sweet aromas. Families with children and elders can wander deep into the orchard and experience the joy of picking their own fruits.

Qinglong Hu also "hides" an International Wine City. Wine has a deep-rooted history in China; according to the Records of the Grand Historian, grape cultivation began during the Han Dynasty, leading to the production of fine wines. The Qinglong Hu International Wine City, located in Qinglong Hu Town, Fangshan District, covers an area of 52.52 hectares and cultivates several high-quality grape varieties.

Today, Qinglong Hu International Wine City combines grape cultivation, processing, and tourism, featuring a wine club, wine culture festival, wine museum, and wine exhibition center. This beautiful estate, filled with the aroma of wine, has become a new landmark for Fangshan. Here, visitors can learn about grape cultivation and varieties, discover winemaking techniques, and taste premium wines.

Nanguan Village is located 6 kilometers southwest of Qinglong Hu Town and has been established since before the Ming Dynasty. It gets its name from the old Guanyin Temple to the north of the village. Surrounded by mountains, Nanguan Village is known for the famous Longtan Spring and is often referred to as the "Little Shidu" of Fangshan District.

In Nanguan Village, visitors can experience the charm of the Jiangnan water towns, enjoying the picturesque scenes of small bridges and flowing water. The area also offers opportunities for hiking and fitness challenges, allowing guests to relax and unwind. It has been recognized as "the most beautiful village in Beijing," and the fish raised in the village using the natural spring water from Longtan Spring are known for their delicious quality. The saying "Eat fish in Nanguan" has become a popular choice for many tourists.

Further along, you can explore the Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian, the Yan Capital Park of the Western Zhou Dynasty, Yunju Temple, and Shangfang Mountain Forest Park. These areas boast beautiful natural environments and rich historical and cultural heritage. In the near future, leveraging the development of the Qinglong Hu region, Nanguan Village will be transformed into a premium international tourism route in southwestern Beijing.
