Waterfront locations: Water Gate Ruin of Zhongdu of Jin Dynasty, Liangshui He Park, Heside Forest Park of Yizhuang New Town

Once, a pure white, graceful swan appeared by the Liangshui He... This was nearly impossible a decade ago when Liangshui He was a stinky drainage ditch, flanked by factories and serving as Beijing's largest drainage channel. Today, the He has returned to its former clarity, teeming with waterfowl.

For many older Beijingers, Liangshui He holds generations of childhood memories and joy. Along the He today, numerous parks can be found, including Wanfangting Park, Shiliuzhuang Urban Leisure Park, Fanglin Park, and Liangshui He Park. The 22.4-kilometer Liangshui He trail is fully connected, allowing for a continuous walk. At Liangshui He Park, visitors can enjoy Beijing's largest sunflower and daisy flower fields.

The essence of Liangshui He is concentrated in the Yizhuang New Town section, which is also known as Heside Forest Park of Yizhuang New Town.
The February orchids bloom beautifully here, rivaling those in Temple of Heaven Park, while irises display their light purple petals. Daisies dot the grass, smiling beside the flowing Liangshui He, listening to its gentle currents as aquatic plants sway gracefully beneath the clear water.
Historically known as Ximagou and Sanggan He, Liangshui He originates from Shuitou Village outside the You'anmen. It flows through Zhazikou into Nanhaizi, merging into the North Canal via Maju Bridge and Zhangjiawan. Named for its cooler spring-fed waters, Liangshui translates to "cool water." Near the He's source at You'anmen, the Water Gate Ruin of Zhongdu of Jin Dynasty stretch 43.4 meters, the largest of its kind in China. Today, the site houses the "Beijing Liao & Jin City Wall Museum," showcasing the "History of Beijing's Urban Development," "Beijing Before Liao and Jin," "Liao Nanjing," and "City Wall of Zhongdu of Jin Dynasty."
