On October 25, Beijing traffic police issued a reminder that several districts will host sports events this weekend, resulting in temporary road closures. Fragrant Hills Park is expecting a peak in visitors for fall foliage viewing, and a marathon will take place in the Yongfeng area of Haidian. Traffic on the northwest sections of the Fifth to Sixth Ring Roads will be particularly heavy on Sunday. Residents are advised to check road information before traveling.
On Saturday evening, performances will be held at the National Stadium and Wukesong Arena, with large crowds expected. From the start of events until their conclusion, nearby roads may experience slow traffic, and temporary traffic management measures will be implemented based on road conditions.
On Sunday, Haidian, Fangshan, and Yanqing districts will host long-distance races, while Changping and Miyun will hold cycling events. Temporary traffic control measures will be applied on affected roads, and some bus routes along these roads will be temporarily rerouted.
Other large-scale events impacting weekend travel include the "Colorful Beijing Lantern Festival" at the Garden Expo Park, running through the end of October; a light festival in Chaoyang District at the Olympic Center area, Liangma River, Wangjing, Chaoyang Street, and Sanlitun, continuing until November 10; and the SWIFT International Banking Operations Seminar, which will conclude on October 27.
Additional events will be held at the National Speed Skating Oval, Beijing Music Industry Park, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing Concert Hall, Beijing Exhibition Center, and other venues such as Tienqiao, Hezhuanghu, Beixin Bridge, Sanlitun, and Guomao. Traffic police will deploy additional officers for traffic management and implement temporary control measures based on traffic flow.
Currently, Beijing has entered the peak period for autumn foliage viewing. Popular scenic spots include Fragrant Hills, Badaling, Gubei Water Town, Pofengling, Laba Goumen, Miaofeng Mountain, Baiwang Mountain, and Jinhai Lake. Fall-themed activities in some parks are expected to attract large crowds, intensifying traffic around these areas during the weekend. The northern city highways—Jingcheng, Jingzang, and Jingshen—will see concentrated outbound traffic on Saturday morning.
The traffic police particularly remind residents that the combination of peak visitors to Fragrant Hills and the marathon in Yongfeng, Haidian, will lead to significant traffic pressure in the northwest Fifth to Sixth Ring Road areas on Sunday morning. Residents are encouraged to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
