2024-11-01

"Autumn in Peking is like paradise."

The weather is mild, neither too hot nor too cold, and the food is abundant. Visitors can admire vibrant foliage, from ginkgo and smoke trees to golden maple, with entire mountainsides awash in shades of red. On October 25th, a colorful feast of nature began at the picturesque Beigong National Forest Park.

As late autumn sets in and the temperature difference between morning and evening increases, over 20 species of colorful foliage trees, including red maple, ginkgo, and white ash, in Beigong National Forest Park are rapidly changing color. With an average foliage color change index of 50%, the park has now entered its peak season for viewing the vibrant autumn leaves.

As a highly anticipated autumn event in Fengtai District, the Beigong Autumn Foliage Festival has been successfully held for several years. In past festivals, its vibrant activities and picturesque autumn scenery have drawn numerous visitors to admire the beauty.

Beigong National Forest Park is a 4A national tourist attraction and one of the most influential national forest parks. With gentle pathways suitable for all ages, it offers more than just red foliage to admire—its vibrant colors are complemented by shimmering waters, perfect for water play. The park boasts rich natural resources and stunning scenery, with 253 plant species, dense forests, and fresh air, making it a natural oasis and an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

From October 26 to November 10, Beigong National Forest Park will host the 2024 Beigong Autumn Foliage Festival under the theme "Vibrant Beigong: Painting the Dream of a Garden City." This year's festival offers a rich and diverse array of activities, spanning six main categories and 16 events, including appreciating the beauty of autumn leaves, discovering nature's wonders, understanding ecological significance, savoring the flavors of harvest, experiencing the depth of traditional Chinese medicine, and reaching the summit for panoramic views. Visitors can stroll through the park, marvel at the vibrant fall foliage, and immerse themselves in nature's splendor and mystery. Through various activities, they can also gain a deeper understanding of ecological conservation, appreciate the profound heritage of Chinese medicine, and enjoy the celebration of harvest.

Twelve stunning foliage viewing spots await your visit. The park has carefully selected 12 prime locations for admiring autumn leaves and has introduced a "2024 Beigong National Forest Park Autumn Foliage Festival" stamp map featuring ancient-style interactive games. Along the thoughtfully chosen viewing route, visitors can enjoy 12 sets of traditional games, including archery, throwing pots, and ball games. By completing these games and collecting stamps, guests can exchange their Beigong-themed foliage stamps for exquisite gifts, adding an extra layer of fun to their park experience.

The family-friendly nature education activities promise to be engaging and fun. The event will recruit a certain number of families, with professional teachers leading on-site explanations about why leaves change color, how trees are seeded, and how trees purify the air. This interactive exploration will help children learn about plant growth while enjoying the process, making nature the best classroom for education and entertainment.

Eighty market stalls cater to your individual needs, featuring both intangible cultural heritage products and a variety of local snacks and goods. Whether you're looking for exquisite handmade crafts, delicious traditional snacks from old Beijing, or unique local agricultural products, you can enjoy a distinctive cultural experience while appreciating the beautiful scenery, along with the joys of shopping and dining.

During the Autumn Foliage Festival, the park will also offer engaging activities such as traditional Chinese medicine health consultations, eco-environmental workshops, voluntary nurturing responsibilities, and showcases of domestic new energy sources, providing ample opportunities for learning and interaction. Whether you are a family with children, a culture enthusiast, or an environmental advocate, you will find your own highlights at the festival.

As an essential part of ecological construction in Fengtai District, Beigong National Forest Park has always been cherished by visitors for its unique charm and abundant ecological resources. This Autumn Foliage Festival promises to offer an unforgettable autumn journey for all attendees.
