The autumn charm of Beijing in a colorful canvas

2024-11-01

The autumn in Beijing is like a colorful painting. When the autumn breeze brushes against the glazed tiles of the Forbidden City, and when ginkgo leaves spread golden carpets in Hutongs, Beijing displays its unique charm in this season. Jood Ghazwan Sharaf, a Bulgarian international student studying in Tsinghua University, visited several scenic spots in Beijing to explore the ever-changing autumn scenery.

Entering the Former Residence of Lao She, the atmosphere of autumn seems even more intense. In this small courtyard that witnesses the life and writing of the literary giant Lao She, the persimmon trees' branches are laden heavy with fruit, and fallen leaves cover the cobblestone road, just like the autumn depicted with his pen.

Sitting on the stone bench in the courtyard, one can feel Mr. Lao She's deep affection for the autumn in Beijing, as shown by his line -- 'autumn in Peking is paradise'. The autumn leaves drifting with the wind seem to tell the story of old Beijing, allowing people to feel the sedimentation of time and the weight of culture against the tranquility.

The trees on both sides of Wusi Street (the site where the May Fourth Movement began) now wear colorful autumn clothes, with golden and deep red colors interwoven, adding a lively touch of colors to this historically significant street. The sunlight shone through the gaps in the leaves and onto the old buildings, creating a variegated scene where time seems to slow down. Strolling through it, the weight of history blends perfectly with the tenderness of autumn.

On the roof of the courtyard house (siheyuan) in Dongsi Hutong in autumn, the golden fallen leaves complement the grey walls and tiles. The warm and gentle afternoon sunshine shines on the cobblestone roads of the alley, elongating the shadows of pedestrians and highlighting the hustle and bustle of life. This serenity and harmony make people relax at once, revealing the unique tranquility and peace of Beijing.

Entering the Olympic Forest Park, various plants change colors sequentially, presenting a colorful autumn painting. Walking in the ocean of lavender, it feels like stepping into a dream of pink clouds and mist, adding unique colors to the golden autumn. The wind gently sways the sea of flowers. Occasionally, leaves fall slowly as if telling the secrets of autumn, making people forget the hustle and bustle of the city when staying in the embrace of the natural beauty.

The Autumn of Beijing is like a silent poem and a flowing painting. The charm of Beijing flows through the scenery of the four seasons.
