Recommended viewing period: Mid-April to early May

Recommended locations: Zhongshan Park, National Botanical Garden, Beijing International Flower Port

Zhongshan Park

Zhongshan Park's history of planting tulips dates back to the 1970s, specifically May 1977, when Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, accompanied by Prince Claus, visited China and gifted 39 excellent varieties of tulip bulbs, totaling 4,000 bulbs. The Protocol Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs transferred tulip bulbs to Zhongshan Park for cultivation. The tulips from the Netherlands have taken root and bloomed in Zhongshan Park, symbolizing the friendship between the people of China and the Netherlands.

Each year, the blooming tulips attract many visitors and photography enthusiasts. The park showcases tulips in large color blocks, natural pot arrangements, and themed flower beds, highlighting harmonious natural displays.

During the tulip blooming season, Zhongshan Park hosts an annual tulip flower exhibition, which began in 1996 and has become a popular spring attraction for locals, praised for its beautiful environment and vibrant flowers.

National Botanical Garden

As mid-April arrives, the National Botanical Garden's west side is adorned with 400,000 blooming tulips, reaching their peak viewing period. The entire tulip exhibition area spans over 8,000 square meters, showcasing more than 130 varieties of tulips. The vibrant colors of the tulips flow with the terrain, resembling waves of colorful blooms.

During the tulip bloom, visitors not only get to enjoy the beautiful sea of tulips but can also purchase unique tulip-themed cultural and creative products. At the cultural and creative shop inside the southeast gate of the garden, items such as tulip brooches and bookmarks have become popular among tourists. Outside the southeast gate, the "Horticultural Life Pavilion" offers visitors the chance to buy blooming tulips directly. The pavilion also features a variety of gardening tools and materials, allowing citizens to bring home tulips and experience the joy of gardening themselves.

Beijing International Flower Port

The "Beijing International Flower Port Tulip Cultural Festival" opens every April. Rare and precious tulip varieties will delight your eyes and satisfy your floral cravings. After snapping a few photos to share on your social media, your friends will be envious of what they call the legendary “perfect social media feed”.

With six unique exhibition areas featuring over 130 rare varieties and 4 million tulips, it creates a vibrant and dazzling visual feast. This space is not only an exquisitely designed floral exhibition but also a carefree natural ecosystem filled with wildflowers, making you feel like you've stepped into a three-dimensional "Secret Garden" picture book. Utilizing the park's varied terrain and employing scientifically rigorous planting techniques, the sea of tulips is more dynamic. From a distance, the tulips appear to surge like waves, offering a stunning visual impact.

When the flowers bloom, it’s like a beautiful silk ribbon, filling the garden with life and resembling a heavenly paradise on Earth. The dreamlike scenery here goes beyond just the abundant flowers. The majestic viewing Great Wall, the tranquil wooden waterwheel, and the exotic Dutch windmill all contribute unique charm to this beautiful place!
