The holiday enters the second half: Today, visitor numbers at municipal parks in Beijing show a steady decline

2024-10-06

According to the Beijing Municipal Park Management Center, on the fifth day of the National Day holiday, 682,000 visitors were received across the 11 municipal parks and the China Garden Museum. The top three most visited parks were the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, and Beihai Park. Based on data released yesterday, visitors to municipal parks on the 4th accounted for nearly 40% of the total visitors at 428 key parks and scenic spots citywide. The Park Management Center advises residents and tourists to visit during off-peak hours and choose green transportation.

This year's National Day holiday features new cultural and creative products in the municipal parks, with special holiday-themed items gaining popularity. The Temple of Heaven introduced several limited-edition beverages, including pomegranate-flavored "Red Harmony Tea," hawthorn-flavored "Peace Star Tea," and osmanthus honey milk tea named "Golden Autumn Celebration Tea." Additionally, a new AR sand art refrigerator magnet combining naked-eye 3D technology with flowing sand design, showcasing the beauty of the Temple of Heaven's "Winter Dragon Scenery," has been unveiled during the holiday and is well-received by tourists.

Jingshan Park creatively combined traditional flavors with modern elements, launching the "Beijing Gaiwan Tea" at the Shan You Li cultural cafe, made with top-quality jasmine tea to evoke the authentic taste of Beijing. The autumn-themed dessert "Wish for Good Fortune" is charming in appearance, vibrant in color, and carries the good wishes for a happy life.

The Beijing Zoo's Pelican Store, Giant Panda Creative Shop, and Giraffe Cultural Store have also attracted many visitors, with popular cultural products such as panda-themed refrigerator magnets, luggage tags, and plush toys. Many tourists and residents visited these stores to shop, take photos, and check in on social media.

Evening park activities and visits to key landmarks along the Central Axis are bustling with activity, providing visitors with a unique experience. As an important cultural landmark along Beijing's Central Axis, various ancient sites within Jingshan Park have become popular photo spots for tourists. The park's ancient courtyards, five pavilions on the hill, the east gate area (including the large and small peony gardens), the south gate theme landscape, the east gate theme landscape, and the hillside trellis have all been illuminated, creating a dazzling display.

In terms of visitor services, parks have also introduced new measures to make visits more convenient and comfortable. The Temple of Heaven upgraded the ticket gates at its north gate, significantly improving the speed and convenience of entry. At Danbi Bridge, "telescopic barriers" combined with "manual cordon barriers" were used to maintain order outside the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, with dynamic adjustments to the queue barriers based on staffing. Beihai Park increased its number of volunteers and civility guides by more than 160 to actively promote orderly visits and ensure a smooth flow.

The Park Management Center stated that as the holiday enters its second half, visiting municipal parks to enjoy flower displays, admire autumn scenery, explore cultural and creative products, and view exhibitions has become a popular "leisure travel" choice for tourists during the final days of the holiday.
