The Clear and Bright solar term typically occurs between April 4 and 6 each year. "Clear and Bright" is not only one of the twenty-four solar terms but also a traditional festival in China that has been celebrated for thousands of years. In 2006, Qingming Festival was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
Meteorological conditions
By Clear and Bright the climate continues to warm, and temperatures rise across most regions of China. However, significant temperature fluctuations and day-night temperature differences remain, leading to the potential for cold air and cold wave weather, especially in northern areas.
In the north, precipitation is sparse, with dry and windy conditions making dust storms relatively common.
In contrast, the lower reaches of the Yangtze River see a noticeable increase in rainfall, while the Jiangnan region experiences a mix of sun and rain, epitomized by the saying "It drizzles thick and fast on Clear and Bright Day."
Cultural significance

Traditionally, during Clear and Bright people return to their hometowns to pay respects at their ancestors' graves. After Clearing the tombs, they engage in various activities such as spring outings and swinging to ease their sorrow and express gratitude to their ancestors and for life itself.

As living standards have improved and lifestyles have changed, the ways in which people celebrate Pure Brightness have also evolved. Some still return to their hometowns for tomb-sweeping, but many choose to honor their deceased loved ones through ancestral halls, flower offerings, and incense burning. Pure Brightness also coincides with the time of planting trees, as the climate is suitable, and the survival rate for seedlings is high. In today's eco-friendly society, many people plant a tree at their ancestors' graves, providing a living symbol of remembrance.

Additionally, various activities related to the Clear and Bright theme, such as cultural exhibitions and poetry contests, are organized in some areas to promote and develop the values of "remembering the past, fostering family ties, and honoring filial piety".
