Part 01 Climb the Great Wall and Enjoy the Autumn Foliage

Located in Luanping County, Chengde City, the Jinshanling Great Wall is one of the finest sections of the Great Wall of China. It stretches for 10.5 kilometers and features 67 enemy towers, 5 passes, and 3 beacon towers. Known for the saying “Among the Great Walls, Jinshanling stands out,” it boasts a tight defensive system with passes, enemy towers, and beacon towers skillfully integrated into the mountainous terrain. This area encompasses nearly all architectural forms of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall, making it an ideal location for appreciating and studying the architectural structure of the Ming Great Wall.

Currently, the autumn foliage at Jinshanling Great Wall has reached its peak viewing period. The mountains are blanketed with red leaves, resembling a vibrant and colorful painting that adds a unique autumn charm to the ancient wall. The variety of tree species at Jinshanling showcases a stunning display of red, orange, yellow, and other intertwined colors. The autumn sunlight filters through the leaves, illuminating them with a captivating glow.

Standing atop the Great Wall and gazing into the distance, the rolling mountains are adorned with autumn colors, creating a picturesque scene. The ancient Jinshanling Great Wall, bathed in the hues of fall, appears even more majestic and grand against this vibrant backdrop.

Within the scenic area, there are several excellent spots for viewing the autumn foliage. Houchuankou is the highest point of the central loop, offering an expansive view. From here, you can overlook the entire Great Wall and the vast expanse of red leaves covering the mountains.

The area near the Big and Small Jinshan Towers is also a great place to enjoy the autumn foliage. The two enemy towers are situated on steep and picturesque peaks, where the surrounding red leaves complement the ancient architecture beautifully. With just a casual snap, you can capture stunning views.

If you prefer a "lazy" way to climb the Great Wall, you can take the cable car to enjoy the breathtaking views from above, gazing at the stunning landscape of overlapping mountains and vibrant autumn foliage. As a paradise for photography enthusiasts, the Jinshanling Great Wall offers not only the beauty of red leaves but also magnificent scenery at dawn and dusk, making it worth a visit.

Visitors can enjoy the gentle sunset and charming evening glow on the first day, and then witness the sunrise over the Golden Mountain at dawn on the second day, experiencing the grandeur of the landscape.

Plus, the scenic area allows for free re-entry!

After summer and autumn rains, the Jinshanling Great Wall is enveloped in swirling clouds and mist, resembling a delicate veil draping over the wall. The scenery is elusive and enchanting, creating a stunning landscape.
