Beijing Central Axis sightseeing bus gains popularity among tourists

2024-10-15

This year, Beijing Central Axis was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, attracting numerous tourists. In August, the Beijing Hub of Tour Dispatch launched eight sightseeing bus routes, including the stunning Beijing Central Axis route, providing new options and experiences for urban sightseeing tourism.

The "Dangdang" car, or trolley car, is an old Beijing term for trams that carries the memories of the city. The beautiful Beijing Central Axis sightseeing bus features a new design resembling the classic trolley car, perfectly replicating the look of traditional trams and scoring high on aesthetics. The interior boasts a faux-wood design, adorned with red lanterns and palace walls, creating a rich classical atmosphere.

The trolley car route offers both day and night tours, passing iconic Beijing landmarks such as Tiananmen Square, the Great Hall of the People, and the National Museum of China, as well as attractions like Jingshan Park, Beihai Park, and the Bell and Drum Towers. Passengers can enjoy close-up views of 15 cultural heritage sites along the Beijing Central Axis, listen to guides' Beijing-accented narrations, taste traditional Peking duck, watch folk performances, and shop for exquisite cultural and creative products, providing an immersive experience of the ancient capital's rich history.

Since the launch of the Beijing Central Axis sightseeing buses, the 41 trolley cars have served an average of 4,000 passengers daily. During the National Day holiday, the eight sightseeing bus routes saw a peak in visitor numbers, with 297 trips per day and a total of 98,000 tourists served. This travel experience has proven to be highly popular and well-received by visitors.
