Shougang Park: Century-old industrial relics transformed into 'Internet Celebrity Landmarks'

The No.3 Blast Furnace and Xiuchi Lake

Completed and inaugurated in June 1993, Shougang Park's No. 3 blast furnace was the first modern large blast furnace in Shougang, boasting a capacity exceeding 2,500 cubic meters. The design embraces a philosophy of 'repairing the old as if it were still old,' retaining the blast furnace's main body, hot blast stove, gravity dust collector, and other core industrial structures, while integrating modern elements to transform it into a global innovation hub. The harmonious blend of rich industrial history and cyberpunk futuristic makes it a must-visit attraction within the park.

Additionally, Xiuchi Lake, originally constructed in 1940 as an iron smelting circulating water pool, has undergone a transformation. The above-ground portion now showcases a scenic water feature, while the underground section features a parking garage that can accommodating 855 vehicles and a circular sunken exhibition hall.

Big Air Shougang

Inspired by the flying ribbons depicted in Dunhuang murals, the Big Air Shougang, named "Snow Flying Ribbons," commemorates the daring feats of Winter Olympics athletes. It stands as the world's first permanent ski jumping venue to be preserved and utilized beyond the games.

Shougang Infinite Park

Located in the northeast corner of Shougang Park's northern section, Kappa Shougang Infinite Park boasts Beijing's largest outdoor skateboarding and rock climbing facilities. Spanning an area of 17.9 hectares, it comprises a climbing area of 4,261 square meters, a skateboarding area of 4,386 square meters, and a leisure zone of 9,266 square meters, it caters to both international-level competitions and recreational enthusiasts, adding a dynamic dimension to public engagement.

Qunming Lake

Nestled at the heart of the park, Qunming Lake was repurposed from Shougang's industrial circulating water reservoir. In winter, migratory ducks , including Mallards and other species such as the Chinese Sand Duck, flock to its serene waters, painting a breathtaking picture against the backdrop of mountains, blast furnaces, pavilions, and bridges.

Shougang High-Line Park

Transformed from existing industrial corridors, Shougang High-Line Park spans 8.2 kilometers, offering a unique aerial linear public space for leisurely strolls, scenic vistas, and recreational activities. The second-floor southern section overlooking the northern section of Qunming Lake provides a perfect vantage point, allowing visitors to admire the lake's beauty while capturing stunning views of the Big Air Shougang.

Liaocang Immersive Digital Art Museum

Formerly a storage facility for Shougang Iron Powder, the Liaocang Immersive Digital Art Museum retains its three towering 10-meter industrial hoppers and numerous original industrial details, while showcasing immersive light and shadow exhibitions across four floors. With a total area of approximately 8,000 square meters, it features six immersive light and shadow exhibition halls equipped with approximately 300 light, shadow, and interactive devices, providing visitors with a captivating sensory experience. Complementing the exhibitions, the museum also offers a range of comprehensive consumer experiences, including bars, marketplaces, restaurants, and reading areas.

RE International Center for Digital Creativity

Housed within the towering 28-meter former industrial storage facility of Shougang Ironworks, the RE International Center for Digital Creativity spans three floors and features over 1,000 square meters of exhibition space. As the world's first digital museum themed on cultural heritage transformed from industrial relics, it preserves the unique spatial layout of industrial heritage while integrating innovative display functionalities. With an open perspective, diverse experiences, and a unique sense of space, the museum presents to the public the renewed charm of cultural heritage and new trends in cultural life from a contemporary angle. Since its opening, the museum has successively launched immersive exhibitions on significant Chinese cultural heritages, including Revisiting the Garden of Gardens,Discovering Beijing's Central Axis, Beyond Stee,Returning to Olympia, and Parallel Universes: Meeting Terracotta Warriors in Greece.

Liaocang Bell & Watch Museum

Boasting a collection of over 600 exquisite timepieces spanning nearly 200 years, the Liaocang Bell & Watch Museum showcases classic pocket watches, wristwatches, and clocks crafted by the world's leading watchmakers and independent horologists since 1830. In addition, the museum also features intriguing foreign novelties and antique collectibles, filling the gaps in the narrative of time beyond horology and seamlessly integrating art into daily life.

Liugong Hui Mall
