Black Dragon Pond
Black Dragon Pool is located in Shicheng Town in the west of Miyun District, close to Miyun Reservoir and is about 28 kilometers from Miyun urban area. The scenic spot sits in the canyon of Yunmeng Mountain, with a total length of 4.5 kilometers.
The valley here is long and narrow, winding and twisting. The walls of the two sides are high and the peaks are steep. As a result of the water level difference of 220 meters, there are a lot of waterfalls as well as a dozen of pools at low-lying places named Spring Flower, Autumn moon, Pingsha, Luoyan, Qu, Die, Chen, Xuan, and etc, which is known as ‘Three Waterfalls and Eighteen Pools’ and famous for being new, strange and dangerous.
Each pool of Black Dragon Pool has its own characteristics. Tongtian Waterfall is the most distinctive waterfall in the scenic area, with a drop of about 36 meters, as if it comes from the sky, and the smoke rises and permeates the valley. Locating at the foot of Tongtian Waterfall, Luoyan Pond is formed as a result of the impact of the waterfall. First Pond is the starting point of the ‘Three Waterfalls and Eighteen Pools’ in the scenic spot. The waterfall above First Pond is named Rainbow Waterfall since there is often beautiful rainbow in front of the waterfall with sun shining the mist.
Surrounded by mountains, the scenery of Black Dragon Pool is quiet and beautiful, getting along well with green mountains and rural villages.
