Zhang Ge Zhuang

If you’re looking for a sea of ginkgo trees, head to Zhang Ge Zhuang Village in Nanshao Town, Changping District. This ginkgo forest, with over 800,000 ginkgo trees spanning approximately 1,000 acres, has been thriving for more than 20 years and is truly spectacular. Here, you can enjoy the ginkgo trees without the backdrop of red walls and green tiles, embracing a more rustic charm. You can bike through the forest, have a picnic on the ground, or take a nap in a hammock. Many educational organizations also bring children here for sketching and photography.

Despite its rustic appeal, Zhang Ge Zhuang Village has a long history. It is believed that the village was established during the Liao Dynasty, with the Zhang family being the first settlers, originally naming the place Zhang Ge Zhuang Village. Today, the village has around 900 households. However, be prepared for traffic congestion if you plan to drive through the village during the peak ginkgo season.
