Autumn in Beijing: Admire Ginkgo Trees and Savor Cultural Delights | Ditan Park

Ditan Park

Ditan Park, situated in the heart of the city, is actually one of the best places to enjoy autumn scenery. With its nearly 500-year-old altar for earth worship, ginkgo avenue planted over 60 years ago, and its inclusion in the classic essay The Temple of Earth and Me which has been cherished for 31 years, this park presents a more approachable and personal charm compared to other imperial altars and temples.

On both sides of the ginkgo avenue in the northern part of the park, over 200 ginkgo trees scatter golden leaves each autumn, creating a golden carpet. Walking on the thick layer of ginkgo leaves, with red walls and glazed tiles visible above, you find yourself surrounded by picturesque scenes at every turn. The sound of wind chimes from ancient eaves and the soft breeze through the forest create a unique melody, adding to the park's autumnal allure. Ditan Park in fall is indeed a place you must visit.
