Diaoyutai Ginkgo Avenue
Shu Qingchun, known by his pen name Lao She, once said, "nothing make you unsatisfied in Peiping's autumn." Indeed, autumn is the best season in Beijing, where ancient trees, some over a hundred years old, are scattered throughout the city. Diaoyutai Ginkgo Avenue, located outside the eastern wall of Diaoyutai State Guesthouse on Sanlihe Lu(Rd), is a landmark for viewing ginkgo trees in autumn. It has become one of the most famous autumn sights in Beijing. During the golden fall season, while other places might be filled with the fragrance of osmanthus or the harvest of fruits and vegetables, the ginkgo trees outside the eastern wall of Diaoyutai are bathed in golden yellow, as if someone had sprinkled countless golden flakes from the sky, fluttering all around. If Beijing had a fairy-tale world, it would surely be here. As time passes, the green fan-shaped ginkgo leaves turn golden, falling gracefully in the wind. This road, strewn with brilliant golden ginkgo leaves, has become the most romantic place in Beijing, a favorite spot for children playing, lovers holding hands, tourists strolling, and photography enthusiasts.
Yuyuantan Park
According to the Records of the Unity of the Great Ming, Yuyuantan is located west of the city and was a pool created by the local Ding family during the Yuan Dynasty. Surrounded by willow trees, the area was known for its clear, refreshing scenery and abundant birds. Yuyuantan Park is a 4A-level national tourist attraction and an ancient recreational spot. Its history can be dated back to the Jin Dynasty when it was just a vast lake and wetland. During the Jin Dynasty, Emperor Zhangzong of Jin, Wanyan Jing, built a platform for fishing here, which is why it is named "Diaoyutai". It has since become a place where citizens enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, water activities in summer, leaf-watching in autumn, and snow fun in winter. The park features a 100-meter-long ginkgo avenue, located along the west side of the park's bridge, where ginkgo trees line the path, presenting a sea of golden color in late autumn. Additionally, the autumn colors are enhanced by other trees like the red maple and poplar along the route.
