2024-09-23

On July 6th, the "Splendor On The Walls: Hanging Screens from the Qing Imperial Palace" opened at the Shenwu Gate Exhibition Hall of the Palace Museum. It is the first special exhibition of Qing Dynasty hanging screens held by the Palace Museum. Hanging screens, a type of screen, are mainly installed on indoor walls to decorate and embellish the vertical space.

The exhibition is divided into four sections. Over 60 representative hanging screens and related calligraphy and painting artifacts are selected. Among them are rare gold-threaded brocade paintings such as "The Orchard of Kejin Xianshan Villa" and elegant hanging screens like "The Inlaid Silver Plum and Apricot Tree." The hanging screens that reproduce the original calligraphy and painting works in different craft forms, such as the "Emperor Ming's Horse Testing" and "Chickens Waiting to be Fed" series, reflect the thinking of being prepared for danger in times of peace and governing the country for the people.

Exhibition period: July 6th, 2024 - November 3rd, 2024

Exhibition venue: Shenwu Gate City Tower Exhibition Hall.
