"Beijing Central Axis: A Building Ensemble Exhibiting the Ideal Order of the Chinese Capital" has been inscribed on the World Heritage List, marking China's 59th World Heritage Site. It was announced at the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in New Delhi, India, on July 27, 2024. 

Here are the 15 heritage sites on the Central Axis (from north to south): Bell and Drum Towers, Wanning Bridge, Jingshan Hill, Palace Museum (Forbidden City), Duanmen Gate, Tiananmen Gate, Outer Jinshui Bridges, Imperial Ancestral Temple, Altar of Land and Grain, Tian’anmen Square Complex (Tian’anmen Square, The Monument to the People's Heroes, The Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, The National Museum of China and The Great Hall of the People), Zhengyangmen Gate, Southern Section Road Archeological Sites, Temple of Heaven, Altar of the God of Agriculture, Yongdingmen Gate, The whole heritage area covers 589 hectares, with a buffer zone of 4,542 hectares.
