At the center of the courtyard stands a hexagonal red pavilion, beside which lies a pond. In March 1949, when the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China moved into Xiangshan, Comrade Mao Zedong resided in the Shuangqing Villa and directed the famous Crossing the Yangtze River Campaign during the Liberation War from here.
