Poetry Charm of Calligraphy Exhibition of Wang Zhen's Calligraphy Works

2024-07-19

On July 11th, "The Rhythms of Poetry and Calligraphy - Wang Zhen Calligraphy Exhibition", hosted by the National Art Museum of China, was unveiled to the public. As part of the museum's Invitational Academic Exhibition Series, the exhibition showcases over a dozen self-composed poems and calligraphy pieces by Wang Zhen.

Wang Zhen began learning calligraphy from a young age, initially studying the works of the "Two Wangs" (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), later delving into the styles of Yan Zhenqing and Liu Gongquan, and extensively exploring inscriptions and calligraphy rubbings from various historical periods. He also received tutelage from Mr. Shu Tong, laying a solid foundation in calligraphy. Wang Zhen's calligraphy is rooted in tradition while deeply immersed in contemporary times, infusing the words, vocabulary, and morpheme of the new era into the ancient poetic forms and rhythms, transforming poetry into a language of ink and brush. From his works, viewers can sense the vibrant energy of life and existence.

The exhibition is on display in Hall 10 on the first floor of the National Art Museum of China until July 27th (closed on Mondays).
