Debuting at the renowned Festival d'Avignon, a pinnacle in the world of contemporary performing arts held annually in Avignon, France, The Cold Blood is a Chinese theatrical masterpiece that unfolded on July 10.
Directed and scripted by Liu Guangyuan, the play delves into the poignant narrative of a divorced couple coming together following the tragic loss of their son in a car accident.
Amid a selection of over 350 stage productions, The Cold Blood stood out, earning its place as one of the esteemed productions backed by the Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theater Directors.
During the Guilin Festival, an international theater extravaganza hosted in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, spanning from October to November last year, the Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theater Directors, aimed at nurturing budding talents, was inaugurated in December 2022.
The Cold Blood embarked on a nationwide tour, gracing stages in various Chinese cities like Nanning in Guangxi, Chengdu in Sichuan province, and Beijing.
From July 16 to 21, esteemed Chinese director Zhao Miao will present a physical theater rendition titled Mother Courage and Her Children, an adaptation of the eponymous play by German dramatist Bertolt Brecht. This production, too, receives backing from the Global Young Chinese Elites Project of Theater Directors.
