On June 27th, the 18th Community Traditional Ethnic Sports Games in Haidian District were held at the Beijing Sport University gymnasium. About 300 people from Beijing Sport University and 15 ethnic work key streets and communities in Haidian District participated.
At the opening ceremony, the lion dance team from Beijing Sport University performed "Lion Rhythm of China"; the Minzu University of China cheerleading team won applause from the audience with their lively and unrestrained performance; 100 representatives from various ethnic groups in Malianwa Street, Haidian District, dressed in ethnic costumes and sang and danced; Yongding Road Street, Haidian District, performed Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan to showcase the beauty of Chinese martial arts.
This sports event included five traditional ethnic sports events: ice soccer, firecracker throwing, kicking shuttlecock, bag throwing, and jump rope. As the competition began, each competition venue became lively. In the firecracker throwing competition area, participants stood on the throwing line, held a 14 cm diameter round "firecracker," and threw it into a bamboo basket 4 to 5 meters away. Each person threw 10 times, and the one with the most hits won.
Ms. Cui, from Weigongcun South Community in Zizhuyuan Street, was the first player to appear. She had excellent skills and hit 8 out of 10 throws, which earned her applause from the audience.
The other events were equally intense and lively, and the competition ended successfully amidst laughter and cheers. The participants enjoyed themselves, formed friendships, and further experienced the charm of traditional ethnic sports.
