On June 7, 2024, the grand opening of "Case Lab: 20000 Leagues Under the Sea (China's inaugural exhibition in Beijing)" took place at Beijing's 798 Art District. The exhibition will be open to the public from June 8 to October 8 at the 798 Art Center.
This immersive exhibition, themed around the renowned French author Jules Verne's classic novel 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, is organized by Beijing's Chaoyang District Cultural and Tourism Bureau as the guiding unit, in collaboration with Beijing 798 Cultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing United Creation International Exhibition Co., Ltd. It meticulously recreates key chapters of the book, following the novel's storyline.
Jules Verne, hailed as the "Father of Science Fiction", has captivated countless readers with his masterpiece, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, which ranks among the most beloved science fiction novels in world literature. It has been designated as a compulsory reading for Chinese language and literature courses in primary and secondary schools. The exhibition coincides with the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations and aims to rekindle the spirit of this French classic science fiction novel. By promoting marine scientific knowledge and fostering public awareness of marine ecological conservation, the exhibition also collaborates with BBC Earth's The Blue Planet II. Visitors will be immersed in the world of 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, exploring the wondrous and vast underwater realm through sections dedicated to marine marvels, steam-powered vehicles, and thrilling adventures. The exhibition has been included as a key event in the 12th Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season.
