The exhibition, with assistance from Beijing Fine Art Academy, Rong Bao Zhai, and Jishou University Museum opened at the National Art Museum of China on June 25, 2024.

This exhibition aims to bring the audience closer to the long and rich artistic life of Huang Yongyu. The title "New Works Exhibition" is particularly meaningful, as Huang Yongyu had planned to organize his centenary art exhibition during his lifetime. To present a different artistic style to the audience, he meticulously created a series of new works. This exhibition will showcase 159 of Huang Yongyu's late new works, fully displaying his creative state and artistic pursuits after the age of 90.

Huang Yongyu, as an artist, explored a wide range of artistic fields throughout his life, leaving behind remarkable works in Chinese painting, printmaking, oil painting, as well as in sculpture, ceramics, graphic design, industrial design, and architectural design. This exhibition mainly features his Chinese paintings, with the earliest works created in 2015 and the latest completed shortly before his death in 2023. Although the creation period is relatively short, the works are numerous, diverse, and cover a wide range of subjects, including ancient figures, modern cities, flowers, animals, zodiac signs, and wrestling. Even after the age of 90, Huang Yongyu maintained a keen interest in everything around him. He observed and captured new things in life with sharp attention. New plants in his home, wild geese by the lake, and lobsters sent by friends, all became the protagonists in his paintings.
