On June 18, nearly 400 young people from Lhasa and Beijing, including Tsering Guojie, gathered at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) to present a special performance of folk dance at the 2024 Youth Arts Festival, which demonstrates contemporary young people's love and pursuit of a better life, national unity, and prosperity of the motherland through enthusiastic and joyful folk dance.

Lhasa No.1 Primary School and Tsinghua University Affiliated Primary School Changping School were the first to take the stage with their two Tibetan dance performances. The Mangkang String Dance "New Life of Strings" is a national intangible cultural heritage, full of the rich ethnic flavor of the Kham region. Children danced tenderly and devotedly with the upward spirit of the Tibetan youth.

Dances like "Happy Tongjia” and “Highland” presented by Beijing’s Command Center for Supporting Tibet and Lhasa Municipal Education Bureau were simple and elegant, which fully demonstrates the fruitful achievements of the 30 years' pairing assistance to Tibet, and the 10 years' education support to Tibet from Beijing. The performance was a great success. At last, all the young actors and actresses in the performance formed a circle and sang a heartfelt song " Singing a Folk Song to the Party " to express national unity.
The 2024 Youth Arts Festival is co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the NCPA. The Tibetan children were very excited to come to Beijing and cherished the opportunity to learn and exchange. Through the rehearsals and performances of this exhibition, the youth of the two regions helped each other and formed precious friendships. Not only did they intuitively feel the artistic charms of the dances of various ethnic groups, but also gained a deeper understanding of ethnic cultures.
As a national platform for performing arts, the NCPA will continue to leverage its own resources, combine art practice with aesthetic education, and play a leading role in art popularization and education.
