2024-06-17

The Embassy of Finland in China and Guardian Art Center organized the exhibition “Harmony Across Eras: Treasures from the Collection of the First Ambassador of Finland to China”. The exhibition will be open to the public for free from June 7 to June 27, 2024, in Hall D on the first floor of the Guardian Art Center, located at No. 1 Wangfujing Dajie (St), Dongcheng District.

The People’s Republic of China and Finland established diplomatic relations in 1950. During his tenure in Beijing from 1953 to 1959, Finland’s first ambassador to China, Cay Sundström, collected a significant number of ancient Chinese art masterpieces.

“Harmony Across Eras” will showcase Cay Sundström’s collection, aiming to provide an aesthetic experience while offering a deeper understanding of the diplomatic history between China and Finland. The exhibition celebrates the beauty of art that transcends time and cultural differences.

Visitors can stroll through the immersive landscape of the exhibition hall, as if stepping into the natural scenery of Finland, and experience the subtle resonance between Nordic aesthetics and the intricate craftsmanship of Chinese art. The pursuit of beauty can connect everyone, bridging the boundaries of time, geography, and culture.

The exhibition is hosted by the Embassy of Finland in China and Guardian Art Center, and organized and produced by Beidian Technology Culture (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and IARA Design and Research Office. The exhibition is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (no admission after 5:30 p.m. and closed on Mondays.
