The official website of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced the new batch of national-level tourist resorts for 2024. Among them, the Beijing WTown International Leisure Tourism Resort has made the list. Bring your family along for a holiday visit!
Beijing WTown

The Beijing WTown International Tourism Resort, situated by the Yuanyang Lake Reservoir and backed by the Simatai Great Wall, is a uniquely charming resort town at the foot of the Great Wall. As you stroll through Beijing WTown, you'll find houses with blue bricks and black tiles, streets paved with thick blue stone slabs, and ancient charm exuding from every roof ridge, window eave, stone bridge, archway, and corridor.
The alleys, courtyards, and streets offer picturesque views at every step. A bridge, a lake, and a corner all exude ancient charm, making visitors feel as if they are walking through a painting.
Gubei WTown features several intangible cultural heritage craft areas where visitors can experience traditional skills such as papermaking, movable type printing, and weaving, appreciating the timeless craftsmanship. Additionally, visitors can explore and engage in other heritage projects like dyeing, rubbing, paper-cutting, and tie-dyeing.
As night falls, Beijing WTown becomes even more enchanting. The Great Wall Music and Water Dance Show, set against the majestic Great Wall, combines music and water dance to lead visitors into the magical world of Gubei, showcasing the vibrant night life of the town. The drone Kongming lantern show is also worth watching, with hundreds of drones carrying lanterns that light up the night sky, creating a stunning spectacle.
Simatai Great Wall

Simatai Great Wall is the only section of the Great Wall that retains its original appearance from the Ming Dynasty, renowned for its five distinctive features: steepness, density, integrity, ingenuity, and completeness. In 2012, it was named the top of the "25 Sceneries You Cannot Miss" by The Times of London.
In addition to the breathtaking daytime views, the night tour of Simatai Great Wall is an experience not to be missed. As the first ancient Great Wall section in China to offer a night tour, Simatai takes on a unique charm under the night lights. Walking along the wall at night, overlooking the illuminated valley below, fills visitors with a profound sense of awe.
Night Tour Route: Take the cable car up to the station, walk to the No.5 Watchtower to enjoy the night views of Simatai Great Wall, and then walk back to the cable car station for the descent.
Staying overnight at the foot of the Great Wall is quite a delight, with many inns available. Each inn has its unique charm, allowing visitors to choose according to their preferences.
Beijing WTown offers a variety of restaurants, perfect for food lovers to indulge. Notable options include Gubei Roasted Pear and Barbecue Restaurant, among others. There's even a late-night eatery. From June 8 to 10, 2024, Beijing WTown will host several new Dragon Boat Festival activities.
