This year, Chaoyang District is bringing new attractions! The Liangma River Cultural and Economic Belt will host more cultural and entertainment activities, and the Sina Weibo E-sports Center in Chaoyang Park will also be unveiled. Additionally, the Olympic Forest Park and the Olympic Tower are set for upgrades.
01 Liangma River Cultural and Economic Belt Upgraded
Take a cruise on the Liangma River to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the water and the bright lights on both sides. In recent years, the Liangma River cruise has not only become a popular cultural and tourism project in Chaoyang District but also stands out among the many internet-famous spots in Beijing. As of May 2024, there are 28 cruise ships of various types on the Liangma River, with a daily average capacity of nearly 2,000 passengers. Currently, the nighttime business area of the Liangma River basin has reached 120,000 square meters, bringing together nearly 400 brands. The annual revenue of regional businesses is nearly 3 billion yuan, and the average daily nighttime passenger flow exceeds 10,000.
This year, Chaoyang District will once again upgrade the Liangma River Cultural and Economic Belt. It will focus on Chaoyang Park, located in the 6-kilometer belt, and prepare for the third phase of the project, including Honglingjin Park and Liuliwan. Through the introduction of major cultural and tourism projects, the optimization and upgrading of commercial nodes along the waterfront, and a variety of cultural and entertainment activities, the scale of economic consumption along the waterfront will continue to expand, upgrading the consumption of commercial, cultural, tourism, and sports activities
02 Sina Weibo E-sports Center in Chaoyang Park Unveiled
A series of buildings will soon be unveiled, including Sina Weibo E-sports Center in Chaoyang Park, Liangma Courtyard, Shell Theater & Central Performing Arts Island, the second phase of Fangzhou Lake, and the sculpture group. In the south of Chaoyang Park, the renovation of Center Vitality Park, Mansion 8, Tennis Center, and planned art museum is being launched in an orderly manner. With the successive hosting of various international brand events, this area will be developped into a leading domestic and world-class cultural tourism destination.
The Sina Weibo E-sports Center in Chaoyang Park is based on the former beach volleyball stadium and its ancillary grounds, covering a total area of about 55,000 square meters. After completion, it will become the largest e-sports theme complex in Beijing. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in the second half of this year.
03 Olympic Forest Park and Olympic Tower Renovated
The Olympic Forest Park and Olympic Tower, which are also popular cultural tourism destinations, will undergo an overall renovation this year. For the Olympic Tower, it is planned to optimize its internal space through dynamic adjustment, layout optimization, and technology integration. The renovation focuses on turning the Tower 4 into an "aerial business reception room that integrates business reception, conference hosting, high-end forums, and guest visits. Currently, the "green-house" photo-taking device is also being promoted, allowing citizens and tourists to choose iconic Olympic images to create commemorative photos.
In terms of the design and development of cultural and creative products, more Olympic-themed and trendy products will be developed based on the existing offerings. Regarding the reasonable use of green space resources, the lawn in the south of Olympic Forest Park has been opened to the public. While adhering to the principle of ecological priority, the functions of "lawn +" and "lighting +" will be continuously expanded, and diverse cultural activities such as the music season, the Olympic Forest Park half marathon, the beer festival, and the lighting show will be carefully planned.
