Chinese and French musicians launched the 2024 Taihu Jazz Festival

2024-05-23

On an early summer evening, graceful and swinging rhythms drifted from the lush green shade. Entering the Taihu of the National Centre for the Performing Arts through the south gate, the wonderful world of jazz music unfolds vibrantly: at the entrance, there's an interactive instrumental stage, a stage in the stagecraft workshop ingeniously transformed with theatrical sets, and the Snowflake Stage next to the main torch platform of the Beijing Winter Olympics, all scattered throughout the park. Performances alternate across these stages, while various market stalls, offering everything from food to cultural and creative products, are interconnected. At 7:30 PM, the lights of the Taihu Theater illuminate, and the grand feast of jazz music joyfully begins.

On May 22, French harmonica master Laurent Maur, renowned jazz trumpeter Li Xiaochuan, and other Chinese and foreign musicians took to the stage together to unveil the 2024 Taihu Jazz Festival.

It is reported that by May 26, the 2024 Taihu Jazz Festival will feature over 200 jazz musicians from home and abroad, presenting more than 50 performances. In terms of venues and scale, besides the Taihu Open-Air Theater, the festival will, for the first time, utilize the Taihu Theater, the Snowflake Stage, the Stagecraft Workshop Stage, and the Interactive Instrumental Stage. Performances held daily from afternoon to evening at the Interactive Instrumental Stage, Stagecraft Workshop Stage, and Snowflake Stage only require a reservation to attend and do not require a ticket for entry.
