2024-04-19

On April 18th, the 14th Beijing International Film Festival commenced. The "14th Beijing International Film Festival · Online BIFF" co-hosted by iQIYI and the Beijing International Film Festival was officially launched simultaneously. As the official exclusive high-definition online video platform for the Beijing International Film Festival and the exclusive partner of “Online BIFF”, iQIYI has continuously enhanced its involvement in this year's film festival through a series of activities including online exhibitions, curated film selections, live broadcasts, and offline interviews and reports.

The 14th Beijing International Film Festival, themed "Interconnected Light and Shadow, Mutual Learning," focuses on internationalism, professionalism, populism, and dissemination power as its four key aspects, further leveraging its role as an international exchange platform in the construction of Beijing's film and television hub. The event will feature over a hundred activities including the main competition unit Tiantan Awards, Focus on the Future, Beijing Screenings, Beijing Market, Film Carnival, College Student Film Festival, and closing ceremony with an awards ceremony. iQIYI has launched an online film exhibition during this year's BIFF, meticulously curating 87 outstanding films from both domestic and international sources, covering a diverse range of genres including war, comedy, science fiction, action, crime, suspense, youth, inspirational, and children's films.

In terms of film lineup, the "Online BIFF" online film exhibition encompasses eleven exciting units, including "First Perspective," "South American Style: A Date with Brazil," "Masters of Action Season," "French Romance," "Star Judges of Light and Shadow," "Beijing International Sports Film Week," "Beijing Ethnic Film Exhibition," "Power of Chinese Cinema: Starlight Exhibition," "Power of Chinese Cinema: Magnificent Years," "Power of Chinese Cinema: Youth Memories," and "Virtual Reality: The Future Is Here".

In 2024, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil, the festival has invited Brazil as the guest of honor. "Online BIFF" has specially arranged two films directed by Brazilian directors, namely "Il traditore" and "Where Has Time Gone". The former has won numerous awards including the Golden Palm Award at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival's main competition unit, while the latter received the Special Jury Award from the Recommendation Committee of the "Golden Silk Road" Media Honor Unit at the 4th Silk Road Film Festival.
