Today, we recommend two small parks where you can enjoy flowers and climb hills, while also paying tribute to the martyrs and feeling the breath of spring.
West Mountain National Forest Park
The West Mountain National Forest Park is renowned for its serene forests and picturesque landscapes. Within the park, the mountains are densely forested, the vegetation is lush, and the streams and springs are clear. Additionally, the park's moderate elevation allows for panoramic views of scenic spots such as the Qiantang River and Fuchun River from the mountain peaks, making it an excellent destination for hiking and sightseeing. In April, the mountain apricots, white magnolias, and plum blossoms in the West Mountain National Forest Park are in full bloom.
[Martyrs Square]The Martyrs Square in West Mountain National Forest Park is built to commemorate the more than 1,300 unnamed heroes who sacrificed their lives in the Taiwan Strait in the 1950s for the national reunification and people's liberation cause. Commemorating these heroes who "shed the first drop of blood in Taiwan" is not only a tribute to the martyrs, a restoration and remembrance of a period of penetrating and lurking years, but also an inspiration and warning to present and future generations.
[Recommended Tour Route]: It is suggested to start from the park entrance and follow the mountain ridge trail upwards, enjoying the forest scenery along the way. At the summit, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the entire city. When descending, you can choose different paths to fully experience the diversity of the park.
[Transportation]: Bus routes include 318, 360, 360 Express, 505, 698, and 932, where you can get off at Nanhetan Station and walk to the park entrance. For self-driving visitors, you can take Minzhuang Road or Xiangshan Road, and the park has multiple parking lots available for visitors.

BaiWangShan Forest Park
BaiWangShan Forest Park is renowned for its dense forests, high vegetation coverage, and rich negative oxygen ion content, earning it the reputation as the oxygen source of Beijing. The red leaves are particularly brilliant during the golden autumn season, making it an excellent place for viewing autumn foliage. Additionally, the park features the Capital Green Culture Monument Forest, showcasing the magnificent Chinese calligraphy and painting art as well as the influence of green culture. In April, the mountain apricot blossoms, magnolia flowers, and crabapple blossoms in Baiwangshan Forest Park bloom one after another, providing visitors with a visual feast.
[Battle of Heishanhu]: The Battle of Heishanhu created a miracle of shooting down enemy aircraft with light weapons. It was the first large-scale strike against Japanese invaders by the Pingxi Anti-Japanese Guerrilla under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, greatly enhancing the belief of the people of Beijing in the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the determination to save the country.
[Recommended Tour Route]: It is suggested to start from the park entrance and follow the signs to the Green Culture Monument Forest to admire the monument art.
