Moshikou Historical and Cultural Street

Camel Bell Ancient Road

The Camel Bell Ancient Road in Moshikou is the starting point of the western ancient road. The western ancient road is mainly the "Xishan Main Road", connecting various north-south trunk roads, and the hub of the central and northern roads is the Camel Bell Ancient Road, which runs through the 1500-meter-long Moshikou Street. It integrates five functions of commercial road, incense road, military road, secret road, and literary road. 

In order to accommodate the merchants traveling on the ancient road, a large number of shops were built on the streets of Moshikou, which flourished and prospered from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China and enjoyed a reputation in Jingxi for a generation.

Fa Hai Temple and Fa Hai Temple Mural Art Center

Fa Hai Temple is located at the southern foot of Cuiwei Mountain in the western suburbs of Beijing. It was first built in the fourth year of the Zhengtong reign of the Ming Dynasty (1439) by the eunuch Li Tong, who funded and supervised the construction through the Ministry of Works. Emperor Yingzong granted it the name "Fa Hai Chan Temple." The mural paintings from the Ming Dynasty preserved within the temple are the oldest and most complete in Beijing's history.

Adjacent to Fa Hai Temple is the Fa Hai Temple Mural Art Center, a new type of art gallery constructed by the Shijingshan District government to digitally interpret the mural paintings of Fa Hai Temple. Within the digital exhibition hall, 4K high-definition screens faithfully reproduce the original proportions of the mural paintings. Visitors can zoom in to see detailed highlights and explore the content of the paintings item by item.
