The Summer Palace
Currently, the 13th "Proud Spirit and Fragrant Beauty" Plum and Winter Sweet Spring Cultural Exhibition is open to the public at the Summer Palace and will continue until February 19th. The exhibition, themed "Inheritance and Innovation," aims to showcase the profound historical heritage, unique artistic value, and scientific achievements of plum and winter sweet flowers.
The exhibition is located in the western Changguan Hall and the Gengzhi Tu scenic area of the Summer Palace. It features over a hundred pots of plum and winter sweet flowers, as well as other plants, with a focus on plum trees aged over a hundred years. Combining Chinese bonsai techniques with the characteristics of royal garden styles, the plum bonsai at the Summer Palace are created in traditional styles such as upright, slanting, overhanging, and forest styles.
This year's exhibition also includes a new intangible cultural heritage flower arrangement area, hosting the first China Traditional Flower Arrangement Art Festival - "New Year Flower Arrangement" exhibition in the Gengzhi Tu area. Dozens of national-level intangible cultural heritage traditional flower arrangement inheritance teams, as well as flower arrangement masters from all over the country, have carefully created over 50 sets of New Year-themed flower arrangement works, bringing visitors warm wishes for the new year.

From February 10th to 17th, the second Orchid Exhibition of the National Botanical Garden, jointly organized by the National Botanical Garden, the South China National Botanical Garden, the Orchid Branch of the Chinese Botanical Society, and the Translocation Conservation Committee of the Chinese Wild Plant Conservation Association, was held simultaneously at the National Botanical Garden in Beijing and the South China National Botanical Garden in Guangzhou. The theme of this orchid exhibition is "Orchids and Culture."
The Four Seasons Hall of the exhibition greenhouse in the National Botanical Garden (North Garden), the bonsai garden, and the exhibition greenhouse in the National Botanical Garden (South Garden) are the main viewing areas of the Beijing exhibition area, showcasing more than 500 species (including varieties) of over ten thousand orchids and Lunar New Year flowers.
In the exhibition greenhouse of the National Botanical Garden (North Garden), various colors of orchids in the six main exhibition areas adorn this place like an ocean of flowers. The Orchid Fine Area is the core area of this orchid exhibition. The Panlong Shen, which is first exhibited, is named after its blooming resembles a dragon spiraling upwards, bringing auspicious meaning to the Year of the Loong. At the same time, there are also peculiar flowers like the one-flower orchid, the triangular-shaped sepals of the Bulbophyllum disciflorum Rolfe, and the thin and translucent flowers of the Diaphananthe, all meeting the public for the first time.
The bonsai garden of the National Botanical Garden (North Garden) is the concentrated exhibition area of national orchids, showcasing nearly 200 national orchids. Among the exhibits are not only fine orchids such as cymbidium but also "zodiac orchids" with names containing "Loong" like "Loongzi" cymbidium, "Wenshan Jialong" Cymbidium sinense, and "Butterfly Loong" cymbidium.
The exhibition area of the National Botanical Garden (South Garden) mainly focuses on the classification, resource investigation, and translocation conservation of Chinese wild orchids. Therefore, this year's orchid exhibition in the exhibition area of the National Botanical Garden (South Garden) focuses on displaying wild orchids, such as species of the Acanthephippium, Coelogyne Lindl. In addition, a few species that are easily confused with orchids are also exhibited, such as the purple fringed orchid. Visitors can not only see Chinese wild orchids but also learn scientific knowledge related to Chinese orchids.
