On January 27th, the "Universal Chinese New Year" themed event kicked off at the Universal Beijing Resort, bringing a refreshed atmosphere to visitors with festive Lunar New Year decorations, new performances, and surrounding products featuring elements of the Year of the Dragon.

During the "Universal Chinese New Year" event, the vibrant Lunar New Year spirit extends from Beijing Universal City Avenue throughout every corner of the park. Lanterns, firecracker-shaped decorations, and more convey a strong sense of Spring Festival joy on Universal City Avenue and the bridge leading to the main theme park. At the entrance arch of the park, five bright red lanterns symbolize a "lucky start" to the new year, prompting many excited visitors to take photos before even entering the park.

Upon entering the Beijing Universal Studios theme park, the giant dragon lantern on Hollywood Boulevard meshes traditional New Year decorations with a modern touch of cinematic elements. Under the pink Universal New Year wishing tree, a meeting with the popular character Dragon Warrior Abao becomes a highlight, with visitors eagerly queuing up for photos. Moving forward to the right, the Minion Park area is adorned with large-eyed lanterns, banana couplets, and firecracker installations, creating a festive atmosphere.

Throughout the "Universal Chinese New Year" event, Beijing Universal Studios has set up the Universal New Year Square, where visitors can experience a traditional and modern New Year market atmosphere. At 6:10 PM, the special 2024 Universal Chinese New Year performance, titled "The New Year is Here!" began. Amid cheerful background music, the "protagonists" in specially designed New Year costumes presented dragon and lion dances, acrobatics, traditional Chinese dance, and more. With familiar songs playing, visitors joined the "stars" of the cinematic world in singing and dancing, sharing the excitement and joy of the "Chinese New Year" story.

Collaborating with Illumination Entertainment, the Minions joined traditional Chinese drummers to interpret the festive atmosphere through sound. Characters from DreamWorks Animation's "Madagascar," including King Julien, Alex, and Gloria, donned red attire and performed a fusion act with Chinese dancers. Abao, Hanzhao Tiger, and Meimei, along with the acrobatic troupe, celebrated the Spring Festival in a lively drumbeat rhythm. The iconic "Jixiang Huanhuan" and "Ruyi Qiuqiu" lions born in Universal Beijing Resort also made a triumphant return. As the performance concluded, ribbons soared through the air, and the audience erupted in cheers, reaching a climax of the New Year atmosphere.

In addition to the festive decorations, the park introduced new Spring Festival foods and limited-edition merchandise. Visitors can taste delicacies such as thumb-sized pan-fried buns, hot pot snacks, tuna pancakes, candied haws, and more at the Universal New Year Square market. Chinese-style desserts, including hawthorn cheese cakes, vanilla pomelo cakes, and caramel cinnamon apple mousses, are also available for purchase. Festive attire, such as Kung Fu Panda 2024 New Year dragon-shaped hats, Abao dragon head children's sweaters, and merchandise featuring Kung Fu Panda and Minions in New Year themes, as well as Minions twelve zodiac dragon plush toys, Minions twelve zodiac-themed lanterns, and more, made their debut.

It is reported that the "Universal Chinese New Year" themed event will continue until March 10th. During the event, the park will release designated single-day reunion tickets for Beijing Universal Studios (for groups of four), upgraded New Year entertainment packages, and special New Year accommodation and dining packages.
