Beijing Daguanyuan
Beijing Daguanyuan is a distinctive classical garden located on the bank of the moat in the southwest corner of the city. It covers an area of 11 hectares and was built in 1984. It serves as the filming location for the 1987 TV series "Dream of the Red Chamber."
To film the TV series "Dream of the Red Chamber," experts in Redology, ancient architecture, garden design, and Qing history collaborated to construct the garden using traditional Chinese architectural techniques and classical garden art. The construction of Daguanyuan realized a dream beyond the "Dream of the Red Chamber," integrating the essence of Redology, ancient architectural technology, and traditional garden art. It exhibits the grandeur of northern royal gardens and the tranquility of southern folk gardens.
The garden features iconic locations like Happy Red Court, Bamboo Lodge, Alpinia Park, and the largest main buildings. There are more than thirty scenes depicting places where events in "Dream of the Red Chamber" took place. Each courtyard has its unique characteristics, reflecting the personalities and preferences of the characters. Visitors can get up close to "Dream of the Red Chamber" and explore the world within it.
Beijing Daguanyuan also serves as the "Yuanmingyuan" in the TV series "Empresses in the Palace". Many scenes were shot here, with Guen Siyi Hall appearing multiple times as the Qinzheng Hall in the series, where the fourth prince first meets Zhen Huan. The lotus pond is the place where An Lingrong sings in the series. Happy Red Court is also the filming location for the room Zhen Huan stays whenever she visits the "Yuanmingyuan." Mutianyu Great Wall
The Mutianyu Great Wall is located in Mutianyu Village, Huairou District, and is one of the most complete and representative sections of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall in China. It boasts beautiful scenery and is renowned as the "unique showpiece of Mutianyu along the Great Wall."
The construction of the Mutianyu Great Wall features a unique style, with three enemy towers and a central watchtower standing together, a rarity among the Great Wall structures. To the northwest, there are known landmarks like the "Ox Horn Edge" presenting a steep and majestic landscape resembling a flying dragon.
In the river of time, the Mutianyu Great Wall has witnessed countless moments immortalized in photo albums. In the movie "After Seperation," Ge You and Xu Fan ponder their emotions and life while on the Great Wall. In "The Karate Kid," Jackie Chan teaches a young boy that the essence of martial arts lies in stopping conflict and pursuing peace. In "Mozart From Space," children and a round alien run freely on the Mutianyu Great Wall, with the starry sky as their backdrop, allowing them to spread joy and hope. Beijing Water Town (Simatai Great Wall) International Tourism Resort
Beijing Water Town (Simatai Great Wall) International Tourism Resort is one of the first tourism resorts in Beijing. Backed by the Simatai Great Wall, it is a unique resort town with a distinctive charm at the foot of the Great Wall.
Taking a stroll in Beijing Water Town, you'll find houses with blue bricks and gray tiles, streets paved with thick blue stone slabs, and an atmosphere of simplicity revealed in every detail, from roof ridges, window eaves, stone bridges, archways, to corridors. Every alley, courtyard, and marketplace presents picturesque views, creating a changing scenery with each step. Bridges, ponds, and corners evoke a sense of wandering in a painting.
The movie "Hidden Man" is adapted from Zhang Beihai's martial arts novel "Xia Yin." In the original work, Zhang Beihai dedicated a lot of words to describe the old appearance of Beijing. The scenes of Li Tianran running on the rooftops, the city towers, streets, alleys covered with climbing plants, and the roofs filled with blue tiles are all captured in Beijing Water Town.
In the TV series "West out of the Yumen," parts of the scenes at the Heishi City were filmed in Gubei Water Town, specifically the commercial street, which is equivalent to the Tangshi Street in Gubei Water Town. Walking through Tangshi Street, visitors can feel the lively atmosphere of a market. The scene where Ye Liuxi travels alone to the Zhao's mansion in the drama was also filmed at the entrance of the Yongshun Dyehouse in Gubei Water Town.
