Early winter is the season for bird migration, accompanied by the gentle warmth of the sun. Start a journey to discover these winter "cuties."

Olympic Forest Park

Olympic Forest Park is divided into two parts: the south park and the north park. The south park covers approximately 380 hectares, featuring magnificent landscapes such as Yangshan. The north park spans around 300 hectares, highlighting small charming flower fields and other small landscapes. The lakes in the park retain extensive wetland mudflats and dense reed beds, creating a paradise for various water birds. The extensive mixed forest management provides concealed habitats and abundant food sources for numerous forest birds. This park is not only a paradise for birds but also a haven for nature enthusiasts.

At the lakeside of Olympic Forest Park, the silhouette of the heron is often spotted. Herons are not hard to find, partly because of their large size, and partly due to their outstanding demeanor.

This winter, the attention of internet users has been drawn to the influx of the highly popular North Long-tailed Tit in Beijing. Recently, some birdwatching enthusiasts successfully "chased the stars" in the park. The North Long-tailed Tit has a petite figure, with its head covered in fluffy white feathers, shiny black eyes, and a short, thick beak. When they curl up, they look like adorable "sticky rice balls." Therefore, many birdwatchers affectionately refer to them as "Little Fat Chirps" or "Flying Rice Dumplings." These cute little birds have become the focus of people's attention.

Nanhaizi Park

The Nanhaizi area is located in the southwest part of the economic development zone. After years of ecological protection and construction, it has become one of the most biodiverse places in the region. The ecological environment here has been effectively protected and restored, allowing various species to thrive and survive.

Nanhaizi Park boasts expansive water surfaces, meandering waterways, soft riverbanks, and undulating terrain. The diverse topography and dense vegetation provide rich food sources and ideal hiding places for wildlife. As a result, Nanhaizi Park has become a habitat and resting place for numerous bird species. It is also an ideal destination for citizens seeking a leisurely retreat and birdwatching.

Recently, Nanhaizi Park and Elk Park welcomed a flock of feathered birds, finding refuge and foraging along the lake and riverbanks. Winter migratory birds in the Beijing area, including large-billed crows, small-billed crows, Eurasian magpies, and Eurasian tree sparrows, have arrived as scheduled, preparing to spend the chilly winter here. This place is a paradise for bird enthusiasts and nature observers, as well as an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility away from the hustle and bustle.

Chaoyang Park

The northern part of Chaoyang Park covers an area of 570,000 square meters, with a primary focus on natural ecology. Through nearly two decades of continuous development and protection, it has evolved into a relatively stable wetland ecosystem, providing diverse habitats for various species. The northern part of Chaoyang Park is not only a natural reserve but also a valuable resource for people to appreciate and learn. Here, you can get up close with nature and experience the wonders of biodiversity.

Wild Duck Island is located on the banks of Lotus Lake, consisting of two green islets and surrounding floating islands. The special design of this area ensures that the water around Wild Duck Island does not freeze year-round, creating an ideal play area for waterfowl. Water circulation devices installed in the lake maintain the flow of water, providing abundant food and a comfortable habitat for the waterfowl.

In April of last year, two black swans flew to Wild Duck Island and made it their home, earning the nickname " owners of the Wild Duck Island " from internet users. Today, the park's black swan family has spread out to Lotus Lake and North Lake. To create a harmonious atmosphere for visitors and swans to coexist, and to meet the bird-watching needs of the visitors, Chaoyang Park has actively planned and developed a new attraction since October of last year—the Swan Lake. Recently, six white swans have successfully joined the water, meeting visitors and harmoniously interacting with other waterfowl.

In addition, the park has added landscape boardwalks, waterfront platforms, and lakeside pathways, creating garden landscapes that bring people closer to a harmonious coexistence with nature. Whether admiring the elegant posture of the swans or strolling through the beautiful landscapes of the park, people can experience the joy and tranquility of blending with nature.
