During the 2024 New Year's Day holiday, Beijing's cultural and tourism consumption increased, for abundant products and services have encouraged tourists to consume them. Various New Year celebrations have brought surprises. Beijing Library is open to the public. New Year concerts and countdown activities have returned. Ice and snow tourism has covered 16 districts of Beijing.

First, the cultural heritage and commercial complexes have been the most popular destinations.

In terms of tourism, 170 tourist attractions and regions are selected to provide relevant statistics. The statistics show that they have received a total of 4.834 million tourists with a total operating income of 324.711 million yuan during the three-day New Year's Day holiday. The numbers of received tourists and total income have increased by 80.5% and 30.8% respectively compared with the same period in 2023.

The top ten tourist attractions and regions in terms of the number of received tourists are Wangfujing, South Luogu Lane, Beijing Solana, Qianmen Street, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, COFCO Shine Hills, Beijing Capital Outlets Leisure Posthouse Scenic Area, Beijing Olympic Park, and Fun Capital Holiday Square. World cultural heritage and comprehensive commercial blocks and complexes show their attraction as always.

Rural tourist attractions and regions have received a total of 436,000 tourists with a year-on-year increase of 41.2%. The operating income is 49.938 million yuan with a year-on-year increase of 37.4%. Among the rural destinations, Yanqing District has received tourists of 230,000 person-times, Miyun District 83,000, and Tongzhou District 45,000. The average occupancy rate of rural B&Bs is 43% during the three-day holiday and 53% in the first two days. The rural B&Bs have received tourists of 35,000 person-times with a 55% increase year-on-year.

Second, New Year concerts have met various needs.

In terms of the performance market, 153 theaters have held 268 commercial performances with 807 performance-times during the New Year's Day holiday, attracting an audience of more than 216,000 person-times and grossing over 53.538 million yuan at the box office. Compared with 2023, these numbers have increased by 166.3%, 263.7% and 442.8% respectively.

In terms of performance-times, the three most-operated types are talk show, modern drama, and children's drama, with 255, 104, and 98 performance-times respectively. In addition, central and municipal art troupes in Beijing have also presented various performances for citizens. According to rough statistics, from December 30th, 2023 to January 1st, 2024, there were more than 20 performance-times in the name of "New Year Concert." Beijing New Year Concert, the iconic musical event and important cultural symbol of Beijing, was played in the Great Hall of the People, and the auditorium of more than 10,000 people was packed. Before the performance, many spectators stood excitedly by the national flag to take pictures.

The large-scale performances have also obviously boosted consumption. Famous singers and musicians Yoga Lin, Zhao Chuan, and Lisa Ono held concerts in Huaxi Live Wukesong, Capital Indoor Stadium, and National Olympic Sports Center respectively, attracting about 35,000 spectators and grossing over 20 million yuan at the box office.

Third, Beijing Library has become the most popular cultural facilities.

During the New Year's Day holiday, Beijing has organized 507 kinds of mass cultural activities with 596 events, attracting 795,000 citizens and tourists to participate. Compared with the same period in 2023, the number of events has increased by 24%.

Among the cultural activities, the opening of Beijing Library has attracted the most tourists. By 14:00 on January 1, 2024, this library has received tourists of 68,700 person-times, and 3153 of them have applied for reader's cards. In response to the enthusiastic concern of visitors and borrowers, Beijing Library has carried out 29 reader activities during the New Year's Day holiday, and 23 of them were held on-site. A total of 66,300 readers participated in the reader activities, including engraving printing, forest bookstore badge collection, children's book package, and some public art exhibitions.

Fourth, ice and snow activities have covered 16 districts of Beijing.

With the promotion of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, this New Year's Day holiday sees the first climax of ice and snow activities. 16 districts of Beijing have organized 78 winter cultural and tourism projects. To meet consumers' needs, Shougang Park has held various activities, including ice and snow parks, food carnivals, and New Year music parties. On December 31st, 2023, a countdown activity was held in front of Shougang 1st Blast Furnace and sent greetings from Beijing to the world with "Happy New Year" written by contemporary calligraphers. On that day, Shougang Park received tourists of 98,000 person-times.

During the New Year's Day holiday, Beijing's cultural law enforcement system dispatched personnel of 2,138 person-times and inspected 1,225 cultural and tourist places, not finding "one-day tours" and other illegal acts related to cultural tourism.
