Exploring American vibes in Beijing

2023-11-16

Passion and freedom have long been the hallmarks of the Americas. From the magnificent Niagara Falls to the mysterious tropical rainforests, from modern metropolises to historic ancient nations, from reggae music to samba dancing... The multifaceted allure of the Americas captivates every traveler. Did you know that Beijing also hosts many places showcasing the American ambiance?

Orenda Tribe·Yuanxiang

Orenda Triibe Yuanxiang Town sits beside the Guyaju Caves in Yanqing, Beijing. Fifteen years of development not only added maturity to the town's life but also accumulated its unique cultural traits.

The town embodies the style of an American Western town, featuring pastoral villas, a luxurious wine museum, a unique health museum, and the exotic Xizhen Hotel. A murmuring mountain stream flows through the entire town, abundant vegetation, and fresh air, resembling a large oxygen bar hidden deep in the mountains.

Walking through this town, surrounded by lush mountains and rivers, you can feel a serene escape from the city, relaxing both body and mind. The artistic atmosphere on the streets pairs perfectly with the American-style architecture. Delicate sculptures blend seamlessly with the surroundings, creating a quiet yet lively ambiance.

Shouchuang Langyuan Station

Initially built as a textile warehouse in the 1960s, Shouchuang Langyuan Station has transformed into an American retro street area, now a new landmark for hosting large cultural events like art exhibitions and theatrical performances. The suffix "Station" stems from the old train station within the park, which still retains some tracks and platforms, becoming a signature structure.

Within the park are two north-south commercial streets: Central Axis Fashion Street and Park Forest Creative Pedestrian Street, offering diverse businesses ranging from fashion, lifestyle, designer boutiques, trendy toys, designer furniture, to social dining experiences.

Shouchuang Langyuan Station features a distinctive venue composed of the central platform area and six surrounding warehouses, breaking away from the traditional venue identity to create a western cultural experience in the west cultural experience commercial area and the self-operated cultural center in the east (Cangku Showground, Zhundian Theatre, Orange Space) - a diverse and composite cultural and artistic space. To the north of the park, facing the Ba River, a "International Riverside Leisure and Entertainment Zone" has been built, mainly introducing dining and bar brands, while also constructing a basketball court in the outdoor sunken space.

Inside the park, there are many intriguing brands. For instance, a boutique handmade burger shop, designed and transformed resembling an old American roadside gas station. Situated near Jiangfu Park, the entire store's light green color matches well with the park environment.

491 Space

The 491 Cultural and Creative Park, located near the eastern 5th Ring Road, was renovated from the former site of National Radio and Television Administration's 491 Station. The precursor of 491 Radio was China's Navy Central Wireless Radio Station, established on February 21, 1918, for transmitting naval messages and communications. As China's earliest radio station with over 100 years of history, it even broadcasted the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In January 2018, the 491 Radio Site was listed in the "Chinese Industrial Heritage Protection List" as an important modern historical site and representative building with a rich historical atmosphere and cultural heritage.

The creative park incorporates many trendy elements such as skateboarding, street racing, skiing, motorcycles, handcrafts, coffee, camping, and clubs. With its vintage American street scenes, it provides not only picture-perfect spots but also a leisurely place for dining, entertainment, and relaxation.
