On November 3rd, the "The Great Wall in Paintings -- an Exhibition of Paintings of the Great Wall" officially opened at the Baoding Art Museum. This is the first stop of the thematic art exhibition, and it will run until December 2nd.
It is reported that the exhibition is divided into three sections: "Guardian of a Thousand Years," "Striving in the New Era," and "Inheritance and Tribute." The aim is to tell the story of the Great Wall, convey Great Wall culture, promote the spirit of the Great Wall, and showcase the magnificent achievements of ecological protection and high-quality development in the new era and its surrounding areas through the language of art.
In order to better integrate art with Great Wall culture, from June 26th to July 5th, 2023, a sketching group of about 40 young artists representing 15 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) along the Great Wall and young artists from the China Academy of Art visited the sections of the Great Wall in Qinhuangdao, Chengde, and Zhangjiakou, as well as key sections of the Great Wall National Park. They focused on the natural landscapes, cultural characteristics, and historical heritage around the Great Wall, accumulating artistic materials through on-site investigation and creation. In the end, over 80 works were exhibited.
During the exhibition, a variety of public education and art workshop activities will also be open to the public. It is planned to invite an artist to interact with the public at the exhibition site every week. Joint activities with various schools at all levels will be carried out, including the "Art Class at the Art Museum" program. Different types of painting, such as Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, and sculpture, will be featured in the "Creating Art Together with Famous Artists" activity.
