The Road of Tang Poetry Art Exhibition makes its debut in Beijing

2023-11-07

The Road of Tang Poetry in Eastern Zhejiang is a geographical route characterized by picturesque landscapes and also serves as a cultural ancient pathway, inspiring over 1,500 Tang Dynasty poems. On November 4th, the "4th Endless Journey in the Green Mountains - Road of Tang Poetry Art Exhibition: Wind Over Thousands of Miles" opened at the Beijing Shuhua Channel Art Museum. This exhibition expands the exploration and contemplation of the "Tang Poetry Road" from Eastern Zhejiang for the first time to Dunhuang. It engages in a dialogue between contemporary art, history, and predecessors, tracing the poetic souls of the Chinese people.

The exhibition encompasses various forms of artistic expression including calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, printmaking, oil painting, sculpture, photography, installation art, and audiovisual presentations. It features a total of over 90 pieces created by more than 80 artists. In addition to outstanding works from the previous three Tang Poetry Road exhibitions and thematic creations inspired by exploration in Dunhuang, several distinguished calligraphy and painting masters from the National Academy of Chinese Painting, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and the China Academy of Art were invited to contribute.

In the last exhibition hall, a 30-meter-long scroll artwork hanging high is particularly eye-catching. This artwork, with a total length of 100 meters, was collectively created by a team of Dunhuang walking artists led by Professor Liu Haiyong from the China Academy of Art in the desert. In this ink painting, one can faintly see Dunhuang sand and gravel in five colors adhering to it. The exhibition features selected 30-meter-long scenes, including the towering Sanwei Mountain, the distant black Gobi, and the swaying trees and vegetation in the wind and sand. The exhibition is jointly organized by the China Academy of Art and the Digital TV Calligraphy and Painting Channel and will be on display in Beijing until November 21st.
