2023-10-30

The Paleozoological Museum of China (PMC) is affiliated with the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was established in 1994 and is the first national-level natural science thematic museum in China that focuses on paleontological fossils as a medium to promote knowledge in paleobiology, paleoecology, paleoanthropology, and evolutionary theory.

On April 1, 1953, the Vertebrate Paleontology Research Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially established in the Di'anmen Erdaoqiao of Xicheng District, Beijing. Its exhibition room was occasionally open to the public, serving as the predecessor of the PMC. It is adjacent to the Beijing Planetarium to the east and faces the Beijing Zoo across the street to the north. Its exterior is a blue castle-style building. The total construction area is 3000 square meters, with an exhibition area of nearly 2000 square meters.

On July 1, 2000, the Paleozoological Museum of China was selected as one of the first "China Paleontological Society Popular Science Education Bases".
