The Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block, as part of the Moshikou Museum Cluster under construction in Shijingshan District, welcomes a new member, the Shijingshan District Stone Carving Museum. On the morning of September 27, the Shijingshan District Stone Carving Museum was inaugurated.
The Shijingshan District Stone Carving Museum relies on the Tian Yi Tomb, a historical and cultural site under municipal-level protection, and the Cixiang Nunnery, a historical and cultural site under district-level protection. In August 2023, it was officially upgraded from the Shijingshan District Stone Carving Cultural Relics Park to the Shijingshan District Stone Carving Museum. The museum houses a total of 264 sets of stone carvings unearthed in the Shijingshan area since the Han Dynasty. It serves as an important part of the Moshikou Museum Cluster and enriches the cultural significance of the Xishan Yongding River Cultural Belt.
At the museum's inauguration, two history and culture enthusiasts who had made pro bono donations of stone carvings to the museum were specially invited to become volunteers for the museum. They were also granted certificates of recognition.
The establishment of the Shijingshan District Stone Carving Museum has effectively expanded its role in culture dissemination and social education. It will help better protect and promote the precious stone carving cultural relics in Shijingshan District and provide the public with more diverse and high-quality exhibitions and cultural activities to allow more people to understand and appreciate the unique charm of the stone carving culture.
